Job description

Apple is where individual imaginations gather together, committing to the values that
lead to great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or experience we
deliver is the result of us making each other's ideas stronger. It's the diversity of our
people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we
do.
Siri ships across every Apple platform, and every bug filed against it - by engineers, by
QA, by external developers, by automated test programs - has to be read, understood,
and routed before being fixed. The Siri Screening & Triage team is the front door for
that incoming signal, working closely with the engineering, quality, and program
management partners across Engineering Operations who keep Siri's code moving
from branch to build. If you want to bring order to a high-volume, high-stakes queue
and build the tools that scale that judgment beyond what any one person could do by
hand, we want to hear from you.
Description
A successful Siri Screening & Triage Engineer treats the incoming queue as a system to
be engineered, not just a list to be worked. Siri's bug queue runs into the tens of
thousands of open reports at any time, spans dozens of components, and moves
across several release trains in flight simultaneously - screening it one ticket at a time
doesn't scale, and treating every report as equally uncertain wastes the time of
engineers waiting on a real answer. You'll read logs and repro steps, tell a genuine
regression apart from test-harness or program-generated noise, and make defensible
priority calls with incomplete information - then build the scripts, classifiers, and AI-
assisted tooling that let the rest of the team make that same call at volume. This role
sits between the people filing bugs and the people who fix them, so clear, fast
communication matters as much as the technical judgment behind it.","responsibilities":"Screen and triage incoming Siri bug reports at scale: analyze logs, reproduce issues, and determine the correct resolver, component, and priority.
Distinguish genuine product regressions and emerging trends from structured-test-program artifacts, duplicate reports, and other queue noise.
Design, build, and maintain automation and AI-assisted tooling (scoring, classification, dedupe, routing) that scales triage judgment beyond manual review.
Partner closely with the engineering, quality, and program management partners across Engineering Operations to route issues to the correct owner and unblock resolution.
Surface trends, capacity risk, and systemic quality gaps across the queue to engineering and program leadership.
Maintain and evolve triage playbooks and processes; drive consistent screening standards across the teams that share responsibility for the queue.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Apple's Radar or another large-scale enterprise bug-tracking system.
Understanding of ML/AI concepts, data analytics, and pattern-finding across large datasets.
Experience building or operating CI / automated test pipelines.
Swift, Objective-C, or C/C++ experience.
Minimum Qualifications
BS/MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
3-6 years of related industry experience.
Experience diagnosing and triaging software issues in a high-volume bug queue, including log analysis and reproduction.
Proficient in scripting languages like Python or Bash - you'll build triage tooling, not just use it.
Practical, hands-on experience applying LLM/GenAI tools to real workflows (classification, summarization, agents) - genuine day-to-day use, not just familiarity.
Comfortable making priority and severity judgment calls under incomplete information and deadline pressure.
Experience with git or another source control system.
Excellent written and verbal communication - this role interacts constantly with engineering, quality, and program management partners across the org.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $123,700 and $218,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You'll also receive benefits including: Comprehensive medical and dental coverage, retirement benefits, a range of discounted products and free services, and for formal education related to advancing your career at Apple, reimbursement for certain educational expenses - including tuition. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments as well as relocation. Learn more about Apple Benefits
