  • Purpose: Modernize GRE's 700 MHz communication system by assessing GRE's current and future operational requirements, replacing aging equipment, and commissioning network.
  • Start of Development: Q1 2026
  • Implementation Timeline: 2027 - 2029

Project Scope of Work
Assessment & Discovery

  • Assess the current 700 MHz radio system and supporting infrastructure to identify capabilities and challenges.
  • Research GRE's current and future operational telecommunications requirements and aspirations
  • Engage with GRE's 26 member cooperatives to understand their current use of the 700 MHz network and future applications they wish to support.
  • Evaluate member cooperatives current fiber assets and potential future fiber builds by member cooperatives and third-party providers.
  • Collaborate with important internal and external stakeholders Technology Research & Vendor Selection
  • Evaluate technologies suitable to support future system requirements with an emphasis on 700MHz solutions.
  • Conduct vendor and technical evaluations and provide recommendations.
  • GRE currently uses Ubiik Mimomax equipment but is interested in exploring additional vendor options and lessons learned from other users. Installation and Commissioning
  • Installation and commissioning of new radio and network equipment

Program Manager requirements
