Job description

Overview

Intrepid Solutions needs a Cellular / RF Engineer to manage the planning, development, design, and management of the Cellular System at MuTC. The Cellular / RF Engineer will provide overall RF Spectrum Engineering and management at MuTC and Camp Atterbury (Indiana) with respect to multi-domain operations and will coordinate spectrum requests through state and federal entities, conduct and monitor spectrum baselines, and provide local deconfliction for TTE events.

Responsibilities
  • Manage planning, scope, development, design, and direction of major projects related to the Cellular System at MuTC
  • Provide overall RF Spectrum Engineering and management at MuTC and Camp Atterbury for multi-domain operations
  • Coordinate spectrum requests through state and federal entities
  • Conduct and monitor spectrum baselines at MuTC and Camp Atterbury
  • Monitor RF spectrum during TTE events and provide real-time deconfliction
  • Provide local spectrum deconfliction for all TTE events
  • Manage 2G/3G/4G/5G cellular technology operations
  • Coordinate with cellular frequency license owners
  • Prepare and submit FCC Experimental Special Temporary Authority (STA) licensing applications
  • Support EW systems integration as it relates to spectrum management
  • Maintain knowledge of operational/performance characteristics of telecommunications equipment and transmission media

OPERATING HOURS AND EXPECTATIONS:

  • This position anticipates standard work hours, Monday-Friday.

Qualifications

CLEARANCE:

  • Active TS/SCI. ***This position is not eligible for initial clearance sponsorship or upgrade.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, or Spectrum Management Certifications, or a related discipline -OR- minimum experience requirements below.

CERTIFICATION:

  • Spectrum management certifications preferred (e.g., NTIA certification, JSC spectrum management course).
  • Amateur radio license (Extra class) a plus.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years Cellular System Operations, Radio/RF, and Spectrum Management
  • Experience with 2G/3G/4G/5G technology operations
  • Experience with various cellular frequencies and coordinating with license owners
  • Experience with FCC Experimental Special Temporary Authority (STA) Licensing Applications or other FCC licensing applications
  • Experience coordinating and deconflicting spectrum with customers to facilitate training objectives
  • Knowledge of operational and performance characteristics of telecommunications equipment and transmission media, and relationship of component parts of communications systems
  • Practical knowledge of commonly applied telecommunication approaches, methods, and techniques

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • DoD spectrum coordination experience (NTIA, SPS, JSC)
  • Direct experience with MuTC or Camp Atterbury RF environment
  • EW integration experience (electronic protect, attack, situational awareness)
  • Familiarity with Onyx Cellular system at MuTC
  • Familiarity with Spectrum Guard or similar spectrum monitoring tools
  • MBSE or digital engineering exposure for spectrum modeling
  • Signal/EW MOS background (25S, 29E, 17E, or equivalent)
