Underground OSP Inspector – Fiber Construction

Pay: $28-$35/hr

MUST HAVE

  • Underground OSP fiber construction experience
  • Experience inspecting directional bore, trenching, conduit placement, handholes, and restoration work
  • Ability to read construction prints and as-built documentation
  • Experience working with fiber construction contractors in the field
  • Valid driver's license

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Underground OSP Inspector to support underground fiber optic construction projects throughout the Gary market. This position will be responsible for monitoring contractor work, ensuring quality standards are met, documenting construction progress, and verifying work is completed according to approved engineering designs.

This is a field-based role requiring daily interaction with construction crews and project stakeholders. The ideal candidate comes from a fiber construction, utility construction, or OSP inspection background and understands underground fiber deployment methods.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Inspect underground fiber construction activities including directional boring, trenching, conduit installation, handholes, vaults, fiber placement, and restoration
  • Verify work is being completed according to approved engineering drawings
  • Monitor contractor quality, safety, and production
  • Document daily construction progress with reports and photos
  • Identify deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed
  • Review redlines and as-built documentation
  • Coordinate with Construction Managers, Engineers, and contractors
  • Track project milestones and communicate field issues

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of OSP fiber construction experience
  • Experience with underground fiber construction methods
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Experience performing field inspections, QA/QC, or construction oversight
  • Strong communication and organizational skills

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Wayne, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
