Job description

Job Title: Senior Voice & Telecom Network Engineer
Location: Bethpage, NY (Hybrid - 3 days on-site/week)
Position Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Voice & Telecom Network Engineer to join our Voice Services team. This individual will play a critical role in the design, deployment, maintenance, and evolution of our Fixed Line and Voice over IP (VoIP) services across multiple platforms and delivery methods. The ideal candidate brings extensive technical expertise across legacy and next-generation voice solutions, networking, automation, provisioning systems, and regulatory compliance technologies such as STIR/SHAKEN and CALEA.
This role requires a proactive, detail-oriented engineer who thrives in high-pressure, complex environments and who can work cross-functionally to drive quality, efficiency, and innovation in our telecom network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain routing, translation, and provisioning logic frameworks on platforms such as Metaswitch, Nokia, Ribbon, and Oracle SBCs.
• Architect, implement, and support SBC and softswitch-based voice network infrastructure for residential and business services.
• Manage hardware and software lifecycles of voice core platforms, including CFS, Perimeta, HiQ, CS2K, vC20, and AS.
• Oversee Fixed Line Mediation and Collection Servers, ensuring proper data acquisition and billing accuracy.
• Lead proactive monitoring, alarm threshold configuration, and remediation of issues in our Service Assurance Platform (SAP).
• Produce regular KPI reports and analytics to track service quality, performance, and SLA adherence.
• Handle customer complaint escalations and perform root cause analysis for high-priority incidents.
• Provide subject matter expertise on voice services such as:
o Voice over HFC
o Voice through Fiber Gateways
o SIP/PRI Trunking
o Business Hosted Voice
o Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS)
• Support provisioning, troubleshooting, and operations of telecom services and regulatory functions, including:
o Voicemail, IVR, STP
o ENUM, LNP, CRE, LCR
o Record Mediation, Media Servers
o Robocalling mitigation
o STIR/SHAKEN, CALEA, and lawful intercept support
o Online Charging Systems (OCS)
Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Telecommunications, or Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in telecom/voice engineering roles.
• 3+ years of experience with Ribbon, Metaswitch and/or Nokia/Siemens core voice platforms or similar
• Deep knowledge of SIP, RTP, SRTP, SDP, DIAMETER, transcoding, and telecom signaling.
• Experience with Unix/Linux, scripting (e.g., Bash, Perl, Python), and automation tools.
• Hands-on experience with telecom routing protocols, voice translation tables, provisioning platforms, and network service monitoring.
• Solid grasp of Cisco networking technologies, including routing (BGP, OSPF), switching (VLANs, NAT, HSRP), and security (VPNs, ACLs).
• Demonstrated ability to lead troubleshooting during live outages and to document RCA and mitigation plans.
• Excellent communication skills, both technical and customer-facing.
Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Ribbon CS2K/C20, Oracle SBCs, and 5ESS systems.
• Familiarity with mediation systems, billing collection frameworks, and data analytics tools.
• Experience working in large-scale service provider environments.
• Exposure to cloud-native telecom solutions (Kubernetes, Docker) and NFV environments.
• Knowledge of regulatory telecom frameworks and compliance tools (STIR/SHAKEN, CALEA, robocall mitigation, etc.).
