Job description

Oregon Aerial Construction (OAC) is one of the largest aerial telecommunications construction companies in the Pacific Northwest.


Founded in 2007, and headquartered in the city of Portland, OAC provides utility services in Oregon and Washington.
OAC’s executive team brings a combined 50 years of industry experience and is committed to providing the best possible service to our partners and customers.


Oregon Aerial Construction (OAC) is looking for an Aerial Foreman for our Portland, OR location.

The Aerial Foreman is an independent, skilled position in all phases of telecom aerial construction and repair. The position entails using problem-solving skills and creating job estimations. Job management, pole climbing, loading and unloading equipment and materials are all part of the daily workload. The Foreman will also be responsible for training ground hands on proper procedures and will oversee the job site.

ALL APPLICANTS BEING CONSIDERED FOR EMPLOYMENT ARE REQUIRED TO PASS PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREENING AND BACKGROUND CHECK.


Responsibilities: 

  • Read blueprints and drawings to understand or plan the repair or pole transfer.
  • Cut, assemble and install cables, lashing, mounts, arms, bonds and guy wires.
  • Install and maintain fiber, cable and phone equipment.
  • Locate and repair issues quickly.
  • Place, transfer and remove poles.
  • Perform all City and D.O.T. requirements: Pre-trip, Vehicle condition report, etc.
  • Pre-trip: Check vehicles before operating for proper functioning of equipment and safety devices.
  • Vehicle condition report: Accurately documenting the condition of vehicle.
  • Responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned vehicles up to standards of appropriate levels of cleanliness.
  • Utilize tablets to complete proper ticket paperwork for billing and invoice purposes.
  • Load materials in truck as required.
  • Perform related work as required.

Qualifications: 

  • Possess a valid CDL driver's license with a good driving record.
  • High School Diploma from accredited school or its equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of experience in aerial construction or telecom trade.
  • May be required to work long, or alternate hours, as necessary for the efficient operation of the business.Skill in the operation of assigned equipment.
  • Ability to apply preventative maintenance and service to motor vehicles and motorized equipment and to make minor adjustments to correct performance malfunctions in the field.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Previous construction experience, preferably in the telecommunication industry. 
  • Able to perform all duties in telecommunications construction (such as; pole transfers, maintenance builds, new build, cable installation, over lash, and strand construction) 
  • Ability to travel. 

Working Conditions: 

This is a full-time hourly position, expected to work at least 40 hours per week. This position operates in an outdoor environment and is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions including; extreme cold, rain, sleet, snow, humidity, high temperatures, and high wind. The outside work environment will vary throughout the day including changes in terrain, traffic, urban settings, and/or rural settings. This position may occasionally be exposed to natural gas and to the risk of electrical shock. Exposure to moderate to loud noise levels. 

Physical Requirements: 

Tasks involve the intermittent performance of physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-75 pounds). Intermittent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavier objects (100+ pounds) and getting in and out of a truck several times a day.

Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 12 hours at a time), tolerate work in extreme weather conditions, speak and hear worksite safety instructions, withstand prolonged and repeated: lifting, standing, climbing, kneeling, reaching and feeling, crouching, and crawling. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
