Candidates may be considered for one (1) or all the Librarian Technician positions based on interests, education, and experience. Please note that the eligibility list for these recruitments may be used to fill other full-time Library Technician, Library Assistant, and Library Clerk positions.

All Library Technician positions will: Provide excellent customer service at the customer service desks. Connect guests with information, library materials, technology, and resources in both print and electronic formats. Contribute to creating a welcoming and enjoyable space for community members of all ages.

Help to create and maintain a safe Library space utilizing the Library's policies and Code of Conduct. Play a role in creating a thriving and supportive workspace as outlined in the Library's Team Culture guidelines. Adult and Teen Services: Contribute to and support the work of the Library's Adult and Teen Services Team.

Organize, present, and assist with quality programs including, but not limited to, book clubs, cultural arts programs, large-scale special events, and the Summer Reading Program. Assist with collection development, creating library displays, participating in library outreach, and conducting library tours. Other professional and organizational duties as needed.

Children's and Family Services: Contribute to and support the work of the Library's Children and Family Services Team. Organize, present, and assist with quality programs including, but not limited to, storytimes, cultural arts programs, large-scale special events, and the Summer Reading Program. Assist with collection development, creating library displays, participating in library outreach, and conducting library tours.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED Education and/or Experience: Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree and two years of library training, coursework or experience, or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities. Examples of Acceptable Substitutions: Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree, plus two (2) years of library training, coursework or experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Substitution: A total of six (6) years of years of library training, coursework or experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of library service, including Internet searching and website evaluation, online databases, Horizon, Windows, Microsoft office and other standard business software is essential; strong commitment to public service; ability to organize work and work independently; ability to work well in teams as well as lead teams; strong ability to communicate both orally and in writing with coworkers, partners, and the public to promote library programs and meet patron needs. Special Requirements: Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
