Job description

Job Summary
The Library Assistant reports to the Director of the Frank & Laura Lewis Library. Primary responsibilities include acquiring, receiving and processing supplies, books, and equipment; and maintaining vendor and acquisition records. The selected candidate will work Sunday- Thursday, 2pm-11pm.
Job Duties
  • Responsible for opening and closing library on scheduled evenings and weekends
  • Answers routine directional and information questions by phone or in person; and refers to librarian as needed for the purpose of helping customers
  • Assists users in locating desired materials and refers them to appropriate resources for specialized requests for the purpose of meeting their needs
  • Checks library materials in and out for the purpose of controlling the inventory
  • Reads shelves on a regular basis for the purpose of keeping materials in correct order
  • Shelves library materials for the purpose of maintaining access to the collection
  • Acts as backup for technology support and reservation setup

Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent. 1 year related experience, preferably in a library, museum, or archives.
Knowledge, Skills Abilities:
Good organizational skills
Strong communication skills
Excellent customer service skills
