General Purpose
Join our dynamic team as a Recreation Youth/Teen Leader and unleash your creativity while making a positive impact in the lives of children and families! Under the guidance of our enthusiastic Recreation Coordinator and Youth/Teen Director, you'll have the opportunity to design and implement exciting activities for kids aged 6-17, as well as engaging family programs. If you have a passion for fostering joy and building community through recreation, we want to hear from you!
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
The hiring range for this Youth/Teen Leader I is $17.06 - $19.44 per hour.
The hiring range for this Youth/Teen Leader II is $17.76 - $20.11 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a minimum of 18 years of age for youth programs, 21 years of age for teen programs. Must possess current CPR/First Aid and Medication Administration certificates or be able to obtain them within 10 days of hire date. Must possess a valid Colorado Driver's License and supply a current Motor Vehicle Record within 10 days of hire date. Must possess current Standard Precautions certification or be able to obtain within 30 days of hire date. Must demonstrate an ability to work well with children. Background check, drug screening, and fingerprinting required. Bilingual in Spanish desired.
Leader I:
Three (3) months (455 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of children ages 6-17, who are not related to the individual.
Leader II:
At least 21 years of age, two (2) years of college, and six(6) months (910 hours) of verified experience, since obtaining the age of 18, in the care and supervision of children ages 6-17, who are not related to the individual.

Recreation Center Membership: Employees are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per year.
Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
Benefits: The city monitors the hours worked for seasonal and variable hour employees. In the event that they work more than 1,560 hours within the ACA measurement period, they will be offered health benefits.
Wellness: Employees are eligible to earn up to $100 for participation in various wellness activities offered by the City throughout the year.
Eligibility for Pay Increases: Employees are eligible for a pay increase around the time of their annual appraisal following a successful evaluation.
Sick Time: Accrual is 1 hour per 30 hours worked
