About TechSource:
This role is an Electrical Technician position supporting TechSource and our client, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). TechSource has a decades-long relationship with LANL and is the prime contractor supporting the Scorpius project in Los Alamos, NM.
In this role, you will support the installation, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and integration of electrical systems for the Scorpius linear induction electron accelerator, which supports subcritical experiment diagnostics at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). You will work closely with engineers and technicians to ensure electrical subsystems are built, installed, and maintained to specification, quality, and safety standards.
About this role:
This role is an Electrical Technician position supporting TechSource and our client, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). TechSource has a decades-long relationship with LANL and is the prime contractor supporting the Scorpius project in Los Alamos, NM.
In this role, you will support the installation, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and integration of electrical systems for the Scorpius linear induction electron accelerator, which supports subcritical experiment diagnostics at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). You will work closely with engineers and technicians to ensure electrical subsystems are built, installed, and maintained to specification, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, wire, assemble, and test electrical systems and subsystems for accelerator components (e.g., IVA, SAC assemblies, LRU-8)
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on power, control, and instrumentation systems
  • Coordinate and support fabrication, assembly, and electrical testing activities
  • Assist with system integration, maintenance, and upgrades
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Use lab test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, hipot testers) to verify system performance
  • Support and help train technicians in electrical assembly and safe work practices
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical teams across multiple national labs and sites
  • Ensure compliance with electrical, quality, and safety standards, including disciplined operations and documentation requirements

Requirements
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of relevant electrical technician experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience with electrical assembly, wiring, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation
  • Familiarity with lab test equipment and basic shop tools
  • Working knowledge of electrical safety practices

Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of the IPC-A-160 "Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies" training
  • Experience with high-voltage or pulsed power systems
  • Familiarity with electron beam accelerator systems or similar complex electromechanical systems
  • Experience working in laboratory, research, or national lab environments
  • Experience with disciplined operations, configuration control, and formal work procedures
