Job description

 Low Voltage Cabling Technician 

Part-Time 

Salary:  $35/hour 

My client is looking for a part-time, Low Voltage Cabling Technician to install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and document low voltage infrastructure for commercial clients. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality structured cabling installations that support network, voice, wireless, security, and audio/video systems. 

The role works on site at client locations (a company vehicle will be provided). 

This role could grow into a full-time position. 

What will you do? 

  • Install structured cabling systems including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fiber optic, coaxial, and other low voltage cabling. 
  • Pull, route, secure, label, and terminate cables in accordance with ANSI/TIA standards and manufacturer specifications. 
  • Install cable pathways including J-hooks, cable tray, ladder rack, conduit, sleeves, and raceways. 
  • Install and terminate patch panels, racks, cabinets, network enclosures, wall plates, and surface mount boxes. 
  • Perform copper and fiber testing and certification using approved test equipment. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, one-line diagrams, and project drawings. 
  • Install and support (including troubleshooting): 
  • Network infrastructure 
  • Wireless access points 
  • IP security cameras 
  • Access control systems 
  • Intercom systems 
  • Audio/Video cabling 
  • Document cable labels, test results, as-built drawings, and project completion reports. 
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment. 
  • Communicate professionally with clients, vendors, and team members. 
  • Assist Project Managers with project progress, material needs, and scheduling. 
  • Follow OSHA safety regulations and company safety policies at all times. 

What do you bring? 

  • High school diploma or GED. 
  • 2+ years of commercial low voltage or structured cabling experience. 
  • Experience installing and terminating Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling. 
  • Ability to read construction drawings and cable schedules. 
  • Experience using cable certification and testing equipment. 
  • Knowledge of structured cabling best practices and installation standards. 
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. 
  • Valid California Driver's License with clean driving record. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • BICSI Installer Certification (preferred). 
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. 
  • Fiber termination and testing experience. 
  • Experience with UniFi, Cisco, Aruba, or similar networking hardware. 
  • Experience installing IP camera systems. 
  • Experience installing access control systems. 
  • Lift certification.
