Brewer Science, Inc. is a major innovator of high-technology solutions for the semiconductor / microelectronics markets. We are currently seeking a purpose-driven candidate with an ownership mentality to fill an open position as a Technology Strategist. This position will be located remotely with preference for the Pheonix, AZ or Austin, TX area.
Summary:
The Technology Strategist identifies, evaluates, and translates emerging technologies into strategic opportunities for the company. It supports the development of the technology roadmap through external insight gathering, early-stage technology scouting, and structured competitive analysis. The position assesses scientific validity, scalability, manufacturability, and market relevance while identifying applications that extend the company’s technical capabilities into adjacent or emerging markets. It supports partnership and licensing due diligence, contributes to technical documentation and IP activities, and prepares feasibility assessments for internal stakeholders. The role works cross-functionally and externally to connect market needs, innovation trends, and internal R amp;D priorities. This position will focus efforts in advanced co-packaged optics and AR/VR/XR systems, as well as optical materials for waveguides, spatial sensors, and related areas.
Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the design, update, and communication of the company’s technology roadmap by collecting and translating external insights from literature, conferences, customer feedback, and supplier interactions.
  • Perform early-stage scouting of emerging technologies, assessing scientific validity, scalability, manufacturability, and relevance to customer needs.
  • Conduct structured competitive analyses, benchmarking emerging technologies against current company capabilities and market alternatives.
  • Identify applications where company technical competencies could enable entry into adjacent or emerging markets, supporting concept ideation.
  • Build a baseline external network by initiating relationships with academic researchers, startup founders, industry scientists, and technical organizations.
  • Support due-diligence activities for potential partnerships or licensing opportunities through data gathering, preliminary technical evaluations, and risk profiling.
  • Assist with technology project planning by preparing technical briefs, opportunity summaries, and feasibility assessments for internal stakeholders.
  • Generate clear, concise documentation of technology assessments and contribute to invention disclosures, patents, and IP strategy discussions.
  • Participate in cross-functional workshops and early R amp;D ideation sessions by introducing external insights and establishing links to market needs.
  • Represent the company in external technical interactions and collect actionable intelligence from conferences, trade shows, and customer visits.

Education amp; Credentials:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field and 14+ years of relevant experience or
  • Master’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience or
  • PhD and 8+ years of relevant experience or
  • Preferred expertise and experience in optical components architecture and integration, particularly in advanced co-packaged optics and AR/VR/XR systems, as well as optical materials for waveguides, spatial sensors, and related areas.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation
Base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
  • Missouri salary range for this role is between $104,700 and $125,600 annually.
  • Texas salary range for this role is between $125,600 and $150,700 annually.
  • Arizona salary range for this role is between $117,200 and $140,700 annually.
