Job description

IT Operations & Security Manager

We are a 45-year-old company with a loyal, long-standing customer base and a strong reputation built on an established product portfolio. Our systems handle complex data processing, API integrations, and scalable architecture where reliability and data integrity are paramount. We are now entering a new phase of growth with the introduction of a new product designed for a new market.

As the senior IT leader, you will oversee IT operations, corporate security, and digital workplace initiatives. You'll manage and develop the IT team, balance long-term strategy with day-to-day support, and continuously improve the performance, compliance, usability, and resilience of our technology environment.

The ideal candidate is a self-directed, highly organized leader who can think strategically while remaining deeply involved in execution-someone who can build, optimize, and scale IT capabilities to support a growing software business.

*This is an in-office position in either of our offices in Sandy, UT, or Columbia, MO, with opportunities for a hybrid schedule post-onboarding.

The Day-to-Day:

  • Lead security and compliance initiatives, including vulnerability management, patching, endpoint protection, logging, and monitoring.
  • Serve as a key partner to leadership, engineering, compliance, and business teams to ensure systems, infrastructure, and data remain secure, efficient, and highly available.
  • Manage compliance and security platforms like Vanta and Asset Tiger.
  • Drive business value through technology, ensuring IT initiatives are aligned to revenue growth, operational efficiency, risk reduction, and user productivity.
  • Supporting compliance and audit readiness efforts such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, or other regulatory frameworks
  • Provide expert technical support while overseeing the deployment, configuration, and administration of cloud network resources, including servers, routers, VPN, and firewalls.
  • Protect our technical ecosystem by managing software deployments, security updates, and critical patches to ensure maximum uptime and data protection.
  • Handle DNS administration, implement and configure TCP/IP environments, and troubleshoot network problems.
  • Practice servant leadership in your role and as the manager of the IT team. Be responsible for hiring, training, project management, and performance management of all team members.
  • Manage SaaS vendor relationships, software licensing, and tool consolidation efforts to improve efficiency and control costs
  • Own the IT budget, coordinating with both the Finance and Executive teams for future needs, gaining accurate bids from external resources for the best value, and watching current costs accrued through day-to-day activities.
  • Own and optimize the Google Workspace, including enterprise security policies.
  • Bring a high level of detail orientation and operational discipline, ensuring documentation, system configurations, and processes are well-defined, maintained, and continuously improved.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure support and management.
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.
  • 1+ years of people management experience.
  • Experience with databases, networks (LAN, WAN), and patch management.
  • Familiarity with SQL and database operations.

Position Preferences

  • Bachelor's in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Certifications such as ITIL Foundation or higher, CISM, CISSP, etc.
  • 1-year experience with cloud services and technologies (AWS, MS Azure, GCP) and/or foundational cloud certification (AWS Cloud Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, Google Cloud Foundations)

Benefits

  • Empowered, Agile Teams: Collaborate with passionate colleagues in small, cross-functional teams that drive innovation. Enjoy the freedom to shape your work and contribute meaningfully.
  • Flexible Work-Life Balance: Achieve optimal work-life harmony with our hybrid work schedule, offering the best of both worlds: in-office collaboration and remote focus.
  • Generous Time Off: Recharge and rejuvenate with 15+ holidays, three weeks of paid vacation, a week of sick leave, and an extended holiday break for quality family time (skeleton crew operations).
  • Celebrate You: Enjoy a paid day off on your birthday and another on our annual "CEO Thank You Day" in March.
  • Invest in Your Growth: Benefit from a supportive environment where long-tenured colleagues share their expertise, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Rewarding Compensation: We value your contributions. Expect a competitive salary package aligned with industry standards.
  • Comprehensive Well-being Support: Protect what matters most with our robust benefits, including top-tier medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Plus, watch your savings grow with our 401(k) matching program.
  • Thrive Together: Build lasting connections and strengthen your skills through annual & quarterly engaging company-wide events and growth opportunities.
  • Fuel Your Focus: Stay energized and inspired with our fully stocked kitchen featuring delicious snacks, meals, and drinks.
  • Convenient Commute: Easily access our office with a prime location near I-70 in Missouri and I-15, as well as the South Jordan Front Runner station in Utah.
