Job Description

This position has technical and management responsibilities of an IT functional area. The individual assigns work, develops and maintains project plan, performs resource management, develops time and cost estimates, monitors budget for area of responsibility and performs HR activities for team members. The individual directs team by setting priorities, coordinating, and reporting group activities and performance.

Responsibilities:

Manage the delivery of development, production, or operational support.

May manage projects of varying size and complexity.

Coordinate work performed by outsourced vendor staff.

Monitors internal and external technology trends and makes recommendations for operating improvements.

Manage work in accordance with the IT Operating Model.

Accountable for maintaining effective internal controls over the processes and transactions under areas of responsibility including the completeness and accuracy of financial information and transactions, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.

Knowledge:

Requires broad knowledge of IT concepts, disciplines, best practices and methodologies.

Requires knowledge and experience in coding or architecture using .net in Web and Windows applications.

Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Lotus Notes.

Must be proficient in the use of intranet and internet applications.

Requires knowledge of client server and web development.

Beneficial to have experience with Java and SOA integration.

Requires strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels of the organization.

Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Qualifications

Education:

Requires Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a technology related field (i.e. Computer Science) from an accredited college or university.

Experience:

Requires a minimum of 3 years' experience managing and implementing IT projects.

Prefers prior experience in Casualty or Health Insurance Industry.

Requires prior supervisory experience.

Requires a minimum of 5 years of software application development and maintenance experience.
