Job description

Who We Are

AMPAM Parks Mechanical specializes in multifamily residential construction. The company's core strength is its design-build model that allows clients to minimize risk, shorten construction schedules, and accelerate building occupancy. Our IT team plays a critical role in enabling operations across project sites, offices, and the enterprise.

Job Summary

The IT Manager is a working manager responsible for the day-to-day operations and continuous improvement of AMPAM's IT environment. This role requires a hands-on technical leader who can both manage and execute — overseeing the existing IT team and support processes while also directly administering and evolving our security, network, and productivity platforms. The ideal candidate brings deep technical proficiency alongside the leadership skills to develop staff, manage vendors, and align IT initiatives with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Helpdesk Operations

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the IT support team, fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Oversee and improve existing helpdesk operations — refine ticketing workflows, SLA management, escalation procedures, and documentation practices.
  • Evaluate current support processes and introduce measurable improvements in response times, resolution quality, and end-user experience.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business disruption.

Network & Security Infrastructure

  • Administer and maintain the Palo Alto firewall environment, including policy management, threat prevention rules, VPN configurations, and firmware lifecycle.
  • Manage and optimize Proofpoint email security — maintain policies, review quarantine activity, tune filtering rules, and respond to emerging threats.
  • Administer Cynet endpoint detection and response (EDR/MDR) platform; monitor alerts, investigate incidents, and ensure endpoint protection is current and effective.
  • Maintain ManageEngine environment (ITSM and/or endpoint management modules) to support operations, asset tracking, and automation.
  • Proactively monitor the security landscape and apply configuration updates, patches, and policy changes across all security platforms to address evolving threats.

Microsoft 365 Administration & Expansion

  • Administer and govern the M365 tenant, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, and Azure AD/Entra ID.
  • Identify, plan, and implement additional M365 services and policies — including Conditional Access, Defender for Business/Endpoint, DLP policies, and compliance features — to expand security posture and productivity capabilities.
  • Ensure proper licensing, configuration, and user lifecycle management across the M365 environment.
  • Drive adoption of underutilized M365 capabilities that align with business needs and improve operational efficiency.

IT Strategy, Projects & Vendor Management

  • Partner with the Director of IT and organizational leadership to align technology initiatives with business goals.
  • Manage IT projects from planning through implementation, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met.
  • Oversee vendor relationships and procurement, ensuring cost-effective solutions and contract compliance.
  • Establish and enforce IT policies, security protocols, and data governance standards to protect company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and the evolving threat landscape, recommending proactive improvements.

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience as a working IT manager — comfortable both managing a team and directly executing technical work.
  • Hands-on experience administering Palo Alto Networks firewalls (policy management, threat prevention, VPN).
  • Working knowledge of Proofpoint email security administration.
  • Experience with endpoint security platforms (Cynet or comparable EDR/MDR solutions).
  • Experience with ManageEngine (ITSM and/or endpoint management).
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365 administration — Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Entra ID/Azure AD.
  • Demonstrated experience managing IT budgets, vendors, and project timelines.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certifications such as PCNSA/PCNSE (Palo Alto), MS-102 (Microsoft 365 Administrator), ITIL, CISSP, or equivalent.
  • Experience in construction, real estate, or project-based industries.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and hybrid networking environments.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without future employment sponsorship.
