Job description

Position Overview
The Product Owner is responsible for leading the strategy, roadmap, prioritization and adoption of features related to a specific product within DTC's technology stack. This role serves as a crucial link between business and IT, translating business vision to technology implementations that facilitate delivery of company goals. The objective measures of success are effective collaboration with business stakeholders, maintaining a value-driven product roadmap and effective release management. At this level, the Product Owner should be able to manage moderately complex products/systems, give guidance to more junior Product Owners and contribute to overall Product Ownership best practices.
Position Details
Work Environment:
At Duluth Trading Company, we value face-to-face interactions that foster our culture of learning, creativity, and teamwork. The role is based at our headquarters near Madison, WI. You will work in the office Monday through Thursday, with the option to work from home on Fridays if you prefer.
What You'll Do:
Product Strategy and Roadmap Management:
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to shape vision and craft the roadmap for a specific product within DTC's technology stack
  • Own, groom and facilitate refinement of the product backlog, using customer and business value to prioritize features
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define the business case for suggested enhancements and incorporate into scoping and prioritization

Delivery and Release Management:
  • Lead sprint ceremonies with the engineering team
  • Define epics, features and user stories for the product backlog
  • Partner with Engineering to refine and split user stories, refine the backlog and understand downstream system and operational impacts
  • Effectively manage release scope and ensure changes are communicated and approved by appropriate stakeholders
  • Work closely with other Product Owners to identify product dependencies, ensure coordinated development and delivery efforts
  • Maintain continuous communication with stakeholders and developers throughout the development, testing and rollout process
  • Maintain project documentation repository and release notes library
  • Track against and provide relevant project status reports regularly
  • Validate that delivered features meet the defined acceptance criteria and align with the intended business value

Stakeholder Collaboration and Leadership:
  • Serve as a product evangelist, identifying and promoting best practices, staying current on technological advances and making recommendations for tool/system usage to drive organizational growth & innovation
  • Act as the primary point of contact between business stakeholders and IT delivery teams to ensure alignment on expectations and deliverables
  • Drive and contribute to the continuous improvement of Product Ownership best practices, tools, and Agile methodologies within the organization
  • Manage fast-changing priorities in a dynamic environment

  • Value-Driven Roadmap: Delivery of a clear, prioritized backlog that demonstrably moves the needle on DTC business metrics
  • Seamless Release Management: Consistent, high-quality feature delivery with minimal disruption and high user adoption

What We're Looking For:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ Years of experience
  • Product Ownership or Business Analysis experience with a digital storefront and ecommerce channel
  • Proven track record of managing moderately complex digital products, platforms, or system integrations
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to say "no" constructively while maintaining positive relationships
  • Certified Scrum Master Preferred
  • Certified Product Owner
  • Working in an Agile environment and Agile best practices
  • Familiarity with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Notion, Lucid)
  • Google Workspace Suite - Including but not limited to Meet, Sheets, Docs, Slides and Gmail
  • Working with data warehouse, analytics or marketing technology solutions
  • Experience with data architecture, integrations or data governance is a plus
  • Familiar with analytic technologies and techniques such as data warehousing, customer data hygiene, performance dashboards, marketing automation and data mining

Position Compensation Outline
Compensation Range:$88,000 - $125,000/year
This position is eligible to participate in the company bonus program.
