What Commercial Technologies contributes to Cardinal Health

Commercial Technologies manages the enterprise's portfolio of commercial technologies to maximize the business value of the technologies and enhance the customer experience. This function creates strategies for the portfolio and innovative solutions based on relationships with business leaders, develops back-end solutions and capabilities, and improves the front-end experience.
Commercial Technologies Management provides strategic oversight, leadership and direction within the Commercial Technologies function.

Job Summary

The Director, Commercial Technologies Management is responsible for leading the execution, delivery, and continuous improvement of technology solutions that support the Navista Network and community oncology practices. This leader partners closely with business, product, operations, and technology teams to implement technology capabilities, drive adoption, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver measurable business outcomes. The role is accountable for translating business priorities into executable technology plans, overseeing program delivery, managing technology partners, and ensuring solutions meet the evolving needs of oncology providers and practice operations. This position will lead a team focused on technological development for physicians and physician practices in the rapidly evolving specialty pharmaceutical field.

This role will be dedicated technology leadership resource to the Navista Network. The Navista Network is Cardinal Health's answer to supporting and enabling community oncology practices that wish to remain independent, enabling practices to be more efficient and profitable. While many oncology practices have been acquired or committed their practice to managed services organization [MSOs], there exists a market segment of community oncology who want to remain independent.

The Network will allow participating oncology practices to maintain autonomy and flexibility, while simultaneously creating economic stability. All practices who join the Network will have the option to align to the specific services they need most in this flexible model and embark on new revenue streams through the use of expanded clinical and business services that we can provide.

This technology leader will be a seasoned leader and advisor, with proven experience in healthcare technology. A key area of focus will be building transformational solutions and products that integrate both internal and external ecosystems to drive value-based care. Expertise will be needed in the following areas: interoperative ability, design thinking, technical design, healthcare data and analytics, technology trends, business landscaping, EMR, value-based care, and awareness of regulatory environments. Will partner closely with business, product owner, and key stakeholders to deliver.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and operationalize the technology roadmap for the Navista Network, ensuring successful delivery of capabilities, milestones, and business outcomes

  • Lead cross-functional programs from planning through implementation and adoption, ensuring technology initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

  • Partner with business and technology leaders to prioritize initiatives and align resources to support growth and operational objectives

  • Select and implement suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimize their strategic benefits

  • Assess potential partners and vendors, and help structure relationships and approaches to integrate technology capabilities and functionality in various ways

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend practical applications that improve provider experience, operational efficiency, and business performance

  • Design & customize technological systems and platforms to improve customer experience

  • Analyze the costs, value and risks of technology to advise management and suggest actions

  • Ensure aligned objectives and execution across internal and external stakeholders to create mutually beneficial partnerships to identify areas of growth and innovation

  • Establish and develop relations with senior management and external partners and stakeholders

  • Ensure technology and service compliance with the law and company's policies

  • Manage strategic partnerships with preferred technology vendors

  • Support business growth initiatives through successful implementation of technology solutions and operational capabilities

  • Manage technology vendor relationships and ensure delivery against contractual commitments, performance metrics, and business objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, engineering, science, or a related field preferred

  • 10-15 years of progressive experience leading complex technology programs, product implementations, or digital transformation initiatives preferred

  • Management Services Organization (MSO) workflow experience, including demonstrated success operating in matrixed healthcare, technology, or provider-facing organizations

  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale cross-functional technology implementations

  • Strong program management, stakeholder management, and organizational change management experience

  • Experience managing external vendors and implementation partners

  • Ability to translate business requirements into actionable technology delivery plans

  • Proven ability to drive execution across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong understanding of specialty drug processes, prior authorization, benefit verification, medication adherence, revenue cycle management, EHR/EMR integrations, data exchange, etc.

  • Understanding of concepts including AI / GenAI, machine learning, natural language processing

  • Capacity to deliver on deadlines while contributing to various stakeholders, projects and business relationships

  • Exceptional emotional intelligence to help manage complex relationships partners, stakeholders, design, engineering and leadership

  • Excellent verbal & written communications and strong storytelling skills

  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 30%)
