Job Summary
The Office of Academic Development (OAD) is seeking a Learning Technology Specialist to support teaching and learning through effective use of educational technologies. This role focuses on managing the institution's Learning Management System (Blackboard), providing support and training for Blackboard users, and offering consultations and resources to help faculty integrate technology into their learning environments. This role also partners with stakeholders across campus on academic-affairs-related administrative processes and reporting.
OAD is a highly collaborative office where team members integrate their work to support shared goals. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a cross-functional environment, building effective working relationships across the team and campus. Success in this position requires flexibility as priorities, direction, or information change in response to institutional needs, along with a willingness to dig deeper to fully understand issues or questions. This position requires comfort with technology, curiosity about learning new tools, and an ability to help faculty apply those tools effectively in instructional contexts.
Job Responsibilities
The Learning Technology Specialist will be expected to:
  • Manage and administer the institution's Learning Management System (Blackboard), staying current on features and updates and working with campus partners to enhance the user experience.
  • Serve as a central point of support for Blackboard for faculty and staff by troubleshooting issues, developing user resources, and providing group and one-on-one training.
  • Consult with faculty on the effective integration of educational technology into learning environments, offering guidance, training, and instructional resources aligned with their goals.
  • Support faculty and academic partners with academic catalog change processes, ensuring proposals follow established policies, guidelines, and required workflows.
  • Coordinate and manage processes related to administrative reporting and compliance, working in partnership with institutional stakeholders to maintain accuracy, consistency, and quality standards.

Minimum and Additional Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience using technology to improve productivity, learning, or performance.
  • Experience collaborating in a cross-departmental environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS) (e.g. Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas, Brightspace, etc.).
  • Experience using educational technologies to enhance curriculum.
  • Experience with processes that require attention to detail, adherence to guidelines, and consistent follow-through.
