Overview
Apogee has an exciting new opportunity for an exciting opportunity for a
Senior Technical Writer providing support to Program Executive Office for Nuclear Command, Control, Communications Common Very Low Frequency (VLF) Receiver (CVR) Increment 2 Program Management Office (PMO) via the Nuclear Networks Division (NCN).The AFNWC/NC3 Integration Directorate is headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base, MA, with an operating location at Kirtland AFB, NM. The NC3 Directorate's mission is to provide support to the Program Executive Office (PEO), the Deputy Director, Deputy AFPEO NC3 and staff for acquisition and administrative control of all NC divisions, branches, and programs. It consists of an Executive Section, Engineering (EN), Financial Management (FM), Operations Management (OM), Information Protection (IP), Contracts (PK), Cyber, Logistics (LG), the Program Execution Group (PEG) and Intelligence (IN).
This is a full-time position located at Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare original technical papers, manuals, policies, specifications, and reports in scientific, technical, or professional fields.
  • Write and edit user documentation, how-to guides, instruction manuals, procedures, and training materials.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-friendly documentation tailored to specific audiences.
  • Ensure documents meet agency style, formatting, tone, and accuracy standards.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, test results, mock-ups, and other inputs to develop or update content.
  • Collaborate with engineers, program managers, vendors, and customer representatives to define technical specifications.
  • Maintain and organize an electronic library of signed documents and final presentations.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity across related documents, including citation of sources and generation of tables of contents.
  • Conduct final reviews for layout, grammar, and editorial quality before release.
  • Support document revisions, version control, and coordination of different editions as needed.
  • Use Microsoft Office and desktop publishing software for content creation, layout, and formatting.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience:
Clearance: Must have an active Top Secret Clearance
Education: BA/BS degree
Years of Experience: 7 - 10 years of relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Years of experience: 5+ years of relevant work experience within the DoD/DoW or Air Force
Technical Skills
  • Strong writing and grammar skills with a clear command of the English language
  • Experience creating technical documents in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with MS Project and MS Access is a plus
  • Ability to synthesize technical data and translate it into easily digestible formats
  • Desktop publishing experience and document version control
Interpersonal Skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Able to multi-task and manage multiple document work-flows
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills across diverse teams
  • Able to work independently and pro-actively manage documentation needs
