Weโ€™re looking for an experienced Technical Writer to support major electrical utility capital and operational projects in Reno, Nevada.

This role is ideal for a Technical Writer who can take complex technical and project information and turn it into clear, accurate, professional documentation used by project teams, engineers, construction managers, project controls, operations, regulatory teams, and leadership.

๐Ÿ”ง What Youโ€™ll Do

  • Create and maintain policies, procedures, manuals, white papers, presentations, reports, and project documentation
  • Support documentation for transmission, distribution, substation, generation, and grid modernization projects
  • Work directly with subject matter experts to gather technical information and clarify documentation requirements
  • Standardize project management and project controls documentation
  • Maintain version control and document management protocols
  • Coordinate requests for project documentation and supporting evidence
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes and efficiency
  • Support PMO methodologies, governance requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets containing large datasets for analysis and presentation
  • Ensure documentation complies with applicable company policies, codes, regulations, and standards
  • Help improve knowledge management and consistency across project teams

๐ŸŽฏ What Weโ€™re Looking For

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, English, Business Administration, Engineering Technology, Project Management, or a related field
  • 3โ€“7 years of experience in technical writing, project documentation, or project controls
  • Experience supporting capital, engineering, construction, or utility projects is highly preferred
  • Experience in a regulated industry is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with transmission, distribution, substations, generation, or utility infrastructure is a plus
  • Strong technical writing, editing, formatting, and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of project management principles and PMO processes
  • Strong proficiency with:
  • Microsoft Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • SharePoint
  • Teams
  • Experience with document management and collaboration platforms
  • Familiarity with project management/project controls tools such as:
