Job Summary:
UICGS / Bowhead Family of Companies is seeking a Technical Writer for its Gunter Annex Air Force base location at Maxwell/Gunter Annex, AL. The Technical Writer will draft, edit, and publish Enterprise Architecture documents and user guides, acting as a bridge between systems engineers and end-users to ensure clear documentation of complex systems.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate directly with the Enterprise Architect to format, edit, and publish comprehensive Enterprise Architecture (EA) documentation.
• Develop, maintain, and continuously update user guides, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and technical standards governing system configurations and deployments.
• Review and interpret complex system architectures, server configurations, network diagrams, and IT infrastructure designs to produce accurate, system-administrator-level technical documentation.
• Coordinate with Enterprise Architects and system administrators to accurately translate technical processes into clear, accessible documentation for diverse stakeholders.
• Execute version control and manage technical documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence) to support the engineering team's operational requirements.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, English, or a related discipline. Equivalent experience may be substituted for degree requirements
• Three to five (5+) years of demonstrated professional experience in Systems Administration, IT Operations, or a highly technical writing role, with hands-on experience supporting complex systems engineering projects
• Demonstrates expert proficiency in technical writing, editing, and formatting utilizing tools such as Microsoft Word, Visio, and Adobe
• Proficiency in receiving, formatting, and executing the publication of complex Enterprise Architecture (EA) views and system diagrams developed by the Enterprise Architecture team, ensuring seamless integration into overall system baseline documentation
• Ability to read and contextualize basic system scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and system configuration files to assist engineering teams in publishing accurate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guides
• Proficiency in technical writing, editing, and publishing utilizing MS Office, Markdown, and document repository structures (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence) for IT infrastructure configuration control
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations (e.g., INCOSE standards, DoD Architectural Framework (DoDAF))
• Must be able to obtain a security clearance at the Secret level
• US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location
Preferred:
• Experience utilizing Enterprise Architecture modeling tools is highly preferred
