Job description

The IT SAP Technical Developer III is a hands-on role responsible for designing, developing, and supporting SAP technical solutions within Dairy Farmers of America's SAP S/4HANA environment with a primary focus on SAP ABAP development, EDI/IDoc integration and technical support.
This position collaborates with functional analysts, business stakeholders, end users, and cross-functional IT teams to translate business and functional requirements into secure, reliable, and supportable SAP technical solutions aligned with DFA development, security, clean-core, governance, and change control standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, document, test, implement, and support SAP technical solutions across SAP S/4HANA modules in collaboration with Shared Applications team members.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical designs, development estimates, and scalable solutions.
  • Develop and enhance reports, interfaces, enhancements, forms, workflows, classes, CDS views, OData services, Fiori/SAPUI5 applications, and related SAP development components.
  • Design, develop and provide technical support for IDoc interfaces, including inbound and outbound processing, extensions, mappings, and error handling.
  • Support integration and interface development, including IDocs, ALE, BAPIs, RFCs, batch interfaces, and file-based integrations.
  • Troubleshoot and debug IDoc processing issues, interface failures, and data inconsistencies.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative solutions for recurring interface issues.
  • Monitor IDoc processing and interface queues; proactively identify and resolve issues to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
  • Optimize ABAP programs and interface processing for performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Apply clean-core principles by using approved extensibility approaches, released APIs, enhancement techniques, and governance practices that reduce upgrade risk and technical debt.
  • Leverage approved AI-enabled development tools to accelerate coding, testing, documentation and troubleshooting while adhering to security and quality standards.
  • Follow DFA development, governance, security, project management, and change control standards.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, Engineering, or related equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of SAP ABAP development experience in an SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA environment
  • Strong experience with ABAP development including reports, enhancements, BADIs, forms, workflows, classes, module pools, and object-oriented programming techniques
  • Strong experience with integration and interface development, including IDocs, ALE, BAPIs, RFCs, APIs, OData services, and web services
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving production issues related to interfaces and data processing
  • Experience supporting ABAP development across SAP modules, including SD, FICO, MM, PP, WM, HCM, and related modules
  • Experience with modern SAP technologies, including SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), SAP Build, CDS views, SAP Fiori/UI5, ABAP Development Tools (ADT), SAP HANA, ABAP Cloud concepts, and side-by-side extensibility preferred

  • Ability to design and deliver reliable, supportable SAP technical solutions based on business and functional requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project and support deadlines
  • Strong understanding of IDoc processing, message control, and ALE distribution models

  • Ability to work on-call rotation
