Technical Project Manager Software information

How do Technical Project Managers in software typically coordinate between development teams and stakeholders?

Technical Project Managers in software play a crucial role in bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders. They often facilitate regular meetings, such as sprint planning and progress reviews, to ensure everyone is aligned on project goals and timelines. Clear communication and documentation are key, as they translate technical updates for non-technical stakeholders and relay business priorities to the development team. This collaborative approach helps manage expectations, mitigate risks early, and ensure successful delivery of software projects.

Description

About the Role

CLX Engineering is seeking a highly organized and execution-focused Project Manager to support our growing software and digital solutions team within airport and industrial automation environments.

This role is specifically focused on software delivery, operational coordination, customer communication, and deployment execution for enterprise software initiatives, CMMS platforms, and operational technology projects.

The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments and understands how to manage complex software deployments inside live operational facilities such as airports, logistics hubs, and industrial environments. This position works closely with Product

Management, Software Engineering, airport stakeholders, and executive leadership to ensure projects remain aligned to customer expectations, schedules, operational constraints, and deployment goals.

Unlike traditional software Product Management roles, this position is focused on execution, coordination, customer communication, milestone management, and operational delivery - not software feature ownership or sprint prioritization.

What You'll Do

Project Execution & Coordination

  • Lead software implementation projects from kickoff through deployment and stabilization.
  • Manage project schedules, milestones, customer deliverables, and deployment timelines.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts across:
  • Software Engineering
  • Product Management
  • PMO
  • Operations Teams
  • Executive Leadership
  • Track risks, dependencies, action items, and operational impacts throughout project execution.
  • Ensure projects remain aligned to customer expectations, delivery schedules, and operational readiness.

Customer Communication & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary project-facing contact for customers and operational stakeholders.
  • Lead project meetings, deployment planning sessions, milestone reviews, and status updates.
  • Manage customer communication regarding:
  • Timelines
  • Deliverables
  • Risks
  • Operational readiness
  • Deployment coordination
  • Maintain strong working relationships with airport operations teams, maintenance personnel, and leadership stakeholders.

Deployment & Operational Support

  • Coordinate software rollout activities within live airport and industrial environments.
  • Support go-live readiness, deployment scheduling, stabilization planning, and hypercare coordination.
  • Work closely with operational teams to minimize disruption during deployments.
  • Assist in customer acceptance activities and operational readiness reviews.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • 2-5+ years of Project Management experience supporting:
  • Enterprise software deployments
  • SaaS platforms
  • Operational technology environments
  • Industrial or automation-related projects
  • Strong customer-facing communication and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing cross-functional technical teams and project deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Project scheduling
  • Milestone tracking
  • Risk management
  • Executive reporting
  • Customer coordination

Experience using

  • Microsoft Office 365
  • Teams
  • SharePoint
  • Project management platforms
  • Ability to travel regularly to customer sites, including Atlanta airport operations.
  • Ability to pass airport badging and security clearance requirements.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting:
  • Airport operations
  • Industrial automation environments
  • CMMS or EAM platforms
  • Operational technology deployments
  • Baggage handling systems (BHS)
  • PMP, CAPM, Scrum Master, Lean Six Sigma, or related certifications preferred.
  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum software delivery environments.
  • Experience coordinating software deployments in live operational facilities.

Travel Expectations

  • Travel expected approximately 20-40% depending on project phase and customer activity.
  • Frequent travel to Atlanta airport operations during active deployment phases.
  • Occasional after-hours or go-live support participation may be required during major deployment milestones.
