About The Role Technical Project Manager

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As part of a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will be responsible for supporting test campaigns of manufacturing and qualifying flight avionics hardware. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of developing safe and robust avionics for the New Glenn launch vehicle.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

You will be accountable as a Technical Project Manager for planning and monitoring projects/test campaigns related to manufacturing rate improvements according to strict deadlines in accordance with high-level program schedules. You will be expected to build strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and factor these relationships health and importance into your project management decisions and approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, Mathematics, or related disciplines
  • 4+ years experience planning and managing projects/programs including managing requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, integration, and cost in a development environment
  • Must demonstrate experience with rate manufacturing.
  • Able to quickly build and navigate a professional network within the organization, including interfacing with Responsible Engineers, Integrated Product Teams, Test Engineers, technicians, buyers, other TPMs, and other support personnel
  • Experience with P6 Primavera, MS Project, or similar scheduling software packages
  • Excellent written, communication and presentation skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Self-starter, strong bias for action and sense of ownership
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Ability to balance technical, business, and organizational influences
  • Demonstrated history of independent work, foreseeing problems, delivering on commitments, and accountability

Desired:

  • Master's degree in engineering, business, or project management
  • 6+ years of experience in an operations environment as a project manager
  • Experience with launch vehicle development, production, and operations and aerospace qualification test programs
  • Experience with verification, integration, and test, of orbital launch vehicles or human rated spacecraft
  • Demonstrated success working with suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of high quality products
  • Knowledge of avionics and electrical components, such as LRUs, batteries or data acquisition systems, including software and test specific instrumentation
  • Program Management Professional (PMP) certification and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience. Experience with critical path scheduling, IMP/IMS, risk management, requirements management and Cost Account Management such as EVM

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
