Technical Programs Manager information

What are Technical Programs Managers?

Technical Programs Managers (TPMs) are professionals responsible for overseeing and coordinating complex technical projects and programs within an organization. They bridge the gap between engineering teams and business stakeholders, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with company goals. TPMs manage project timelines, resources, and risks while facilitating communication across teams. Their role often involves strategic planning, technical problem-solving, and driving cross-functional collaboration.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Technical Programs Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Technical Programs Manager, you need a solid background in project management, technical expertise in relevant domains, and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Jira or Asana, and certifications such as PMP or Scrum Master, are commonly required. Exceptional leadership, stakeholder management, and effective communication skills help you drive cross-functional teams toward shared goals. These skills ensure that complex technical projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards.

Job description

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic Sr. Manager - Technical Programs to lead high-impact technical initiatives and strategically grow our channel partner ecosystem. This role uniquely combines deep technical program management expertise with a strong focus on partner enablement, development, and success. The ideal candidate will excel at data reporting and analytics, deep experience in building and streamlining processes, and leading a team of technical program managers and program operations.

What You'll Do
  • Own a technical program end-to-end: set strategy, requirements, scope, timelines, resources, and success metrics-from concept to deployment-while owning internal and external stakeholder communications and stakeholder management.
  • Execute with rigor: manage dependencies, anticipate/mitigate technical and operational risks, and create/streamline processes for scale.
  • Lead a small team of program and ops specialists; drive cross-functional alignment with sales, channel, and solutions engineering, ensuring executive visibility.
  • Build and scale channel partner processes (evolution of qualification requirements, onboarding, ongoing program compliance, offboarding); present at partner events and drive thought leadership.
  • Make data-driven decisions: build reporting/automation, analyze and parse large data sets to glean Business Intelligence (BI), and translate partner insights into clear GTM feedback and investment priorities while acting as the engineering-partner liaison.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in managing technical programs, preferably within cloud, security, SaaS, or related technology domains. Experience managing global or regional partner programs is a big plus.
  • 3+ years of experience directly leading people.
  • Experience with CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce) and other partner data/analytics platforms (e.g. Clari).
  • Proven experience in channel development, partner enablement, or strategic partner management within a technology-focused organization.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex, cross-functional technical projects and delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and influencing skills, capable of effectively engaging both technical and business stakeholders. Prepare executive communications, dashboards, project plans, and status reports to keep stakeholders informed about milestones and risks.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute, create clarity, and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic and often ambiguous environment.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security products, SaaS platforms, and cloud technologies is highly preferred
