Job description

The Program Manager is a specialized client facing leadership role responsible for the successful planning, design, coordination, execution, and support of projects associated with special accounts. This position serves as the primary technical and operational lead for the customer and acts as the bridge between sales, engineering, operations, and service delivery.

This role combines responsibilities traditionally associated with Account Support, Pre-Sales Engineering, Technical Operations Engineering, and Project Management into a single client dedicated leadership position. The individual in this role is expected to provide strategic technical guidance, maintain strong customer relationships, ensure operational execution, and lead projects from initial discovery through final completion and ongoing support.

The Program Manager will participate in all major customer meetings and serve as a trusted advisor to both the client and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

Client Leadership and Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary technical and operational point of contact for the account
  • Attend and actively participate in all customer meetings, project reviews, planning sessions, and coordination discussions
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with client stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and internal teams
  • Provide professional guidance and recommendations to customers regarding system design, implementation strategies, operational impacts, and technical solutions
  • Maintain consistent communication with the client regarding project status, risks, timelines, and expectations
  • Support long term account growth through trusted partnership and technical leadership

Pre-Sales and Solution Development

  • Lead technical discovery efforts, site evaluations, and requirements gathering
  • Assist the Account Manager with solution development, scope validation, budgeting, and technical recommendations
  • Develop and review scopes of work, bills of material, system architecture, and implementation strategies
  • Coordinate with manufacturers, distributors, subcontractors, and internal resources during solution development
  • Identify project risks, operational impacts, material lead times, and implementation challenges during the proposal phase
  • Ensure proposed solutions align with client standards, operational requirements, and contractual obligations

Technical Operations Engineering

  • Provide advanced technical oversight for all systems associated with the account
  • Support system configuration, integration, commissioning, troubleshooting, and validation activities
  • Coordinate technical resources and ensure installations meet company and client quality standards
  • Review and validate technical deliverables, programming requirements, testing procedures, and final system functionality
  • Assist with resolving escalated technical issues and operational concerns
  • Maintain technical understanding of applicable systems, platforms, standards, and manufacturer requirements

Project Management

  • Maintain full ownership of assigned projects from turnover through closeout
  • Develop project schedules, resource plans, milestone tracking, and execution strategies
  • Coordinate labor, subcontractors, materials, and technical resources to ensure successful project delivery
  • Manage project financials including labor tracking, billing progress, forecasting, and change management
  • Ensure all project documentation, reporting, and client communication is maintained accurately and consistently
  • Conduct regular project quality control reviews to ensure installations meet company and client expectations
  • Identify and proactively resolve project risks, scheduling conflicts, scope concerns, and operational challenges
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, profitably, and in accordance with contract requirements

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in physical security systems, structured cabling, intelligent transportation systems, networking, or related low voltage technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, technical operations, system integration, or engineering leadership
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycle management including discovery, design, implementation, commissioning, and support
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, executive leadership, technical teams, subcontractors, and field personnel
  • Experience managing customer expectations, project schedules, budgets, and operational priorities
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt within a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency with project documentation, reporting systems, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience working with government, transportation, or public sector clients preferred

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of education/experience 
  • At least 5 years of experience in similar position 
  • Current and valid US driver’s license preferred
  • Must pass pre-employment background check and drug test in accordance with federal, state, and local laws
