The right Dolly Parton Experience Technical Operations Assistant Area Team Lead will include equal parts curious learner, innovator, administrator, detail driver, mentor, and motivator.
This role exists to provide the Entertainment Department with quality overall stage technical duties for various shows in order to provide Park Guests with a high-quality entertainment experience matching the expected level of the Dollywood brand. This role has area/zonal responsibilities for technology solutions.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to display and live out Lead with Love qualities, strongly rooted in the Dollywood Company culture, by being patient, kind, trusting, unselfish, truthful, forgiving, dedicated and accountable.
Summary of Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Be knowledgeable of multiple locations and the technical requirements related to each show experience, including but not limited to: audio, lighting, and specialty show technology
  • Be knowledgeable of assigned show content and individual production's tracks
  • Perform technical (installation and operation) duties associated with theatrical and special effects for live production shows, special events, concerts, and contract acts
  • Maintain Inventory control of Dollywood equipment and supplies at assigned venues
  • Flexible in managing various entertainment outlets and team members
  • Initiate and/or provide training for a variety of equipment: spotlights, light boards, projectors, sound boards, etc
  • Perform routine maintenance and upkeep of technical related components and show facility
  • Assist technical set up of shows and experiences including software and systems programming and participate in all work calls and track large amounts of technical data
  • Provide assistance and support as directed for new and existing shows
  • Willing to learn new hardware, software and processes
  • Able to provide consistent work when dealing with time-sensitive situations to ensure a positive Guest experience at all shows
  • Suggest technical solutions within existing business framework and present technical solutions that may exist outside of existing business framework
  • Lead a team of various technicians
  • Support onboarding and training of various technicians
  • Drive company vehicles (cars, vans, non-commercial trucks to transport personnel and/or supplies/sets
  • Lead work calls to complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Fill in for audio/lighting/general technicians as needed

Education and Experience Required
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Qlab knowledge; Experience preferred
  • Dante Level 2 Certified
  • 4 years backstage experience with school, community or professional theaters is preferred
  • Carpentry and electrical skills preferred
  • Must be able to operate a computer and be knowledgeable of general use programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Must be able to operate audio systems in a safe manner
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have valid auto insurance
  • ETCP certification in theater rigging and electrical preferred, but not required
  • Must successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening

  • Able to tolerate, handle, and have knowledge of commercial chemicals including cleaning solvents, adhesives, paints, lubricants, fog/snow/hazer fluids
  • Able to perform all job duties in a safe manner while following all Dollywood Safety procedures and policies
  • Must be able to sweep and mop floors to keep areas clean for safety purposes

Physical and Cognitive Requirements
  • Lifting and Carrying: Position may require occasional to frequent lifting of up to 30 lbs utilizing company's safety guidelines for safe lifting
  • Mobility: Position may require intermittent to prolonged sitting, standing and/or walking for duration of shift, up to 16 hours. Employees may also be required to travel to various areas on property which may include changes in terrain, stairs and uneven surfaces
  • Repetitive Movements: This position may require performing repetitive movements and tasks throughout the shift, including repeated use of hands, arms or other body parts as part of typical job functions
  • Environmental Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform work tasks in varying weather conditions to include extreme cold and heat. Employees may be required to work indoors and outdoors
