Technical Operations Senior Manager

We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead Expedia Group's Tax Data Collection function. This role will provide people leadership and operational ownership for a growing team responsible for scaling tax data collection capabilities, improving data quality, and building sustainable operating mechanisms that reduce tax risk and support compliance outcomes across jurisdictions.

This role is well suited for a leader who can combine operational rigor, systems thinking, stakeholder influence, and technical-operations discipline to help the business move from fragmented support to a more durable, scalable model.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead the day-to-day operation and longer-term strategy for tax data collection, including defining team priorities, operating rhythms, and execution plans that support both near-term delivery and future scale.
  • Manage and develop a team responsible for tax data collection operations, creating clear ownership, supporting career growth, and raising the bar on execution, communication, and accountability.
  • Partner closely with Tax, Finance, Legal, Government Affairs, Product, and operational stakeholders to understand requirements, frame risks and trade-offs, and drive aligned decisions across functions.
  • Build scalable mechanisms to collect, validate, and maintain supplier tax information such as VAT, GST, TIN, legal entity, registration, and related supporting data.
  • Improve operational readiness for both onboarding and retroactive compliance by ensuring required tax data is collected, validated, and remediated when missing or incomplete.
  • Establish visibility into team performance and program health through metrics, reporting, and clear stakeholder updates that support prioritization and decision-making.
  • Identify process, tooling, and workflow gaps; prioritize improvements; and lead adoption of new processes, tools, and behaviors with minimal disruption.
  • Use signal analysis and operational insights to proactively identify risk patterns, reduce recurrence of issues, and improve the reliability and quality of tax data collection workflows.
  • Strengthen documentation, knowledge design, and communication practices so teams can work more consistently and stakeholders can more easily understand complex tax and regulatory requirements.
  • Help bring tax data collection operations into a more modern operating model by advancing automation, AI-assisted support, and scalable operating practices where appropriate.
Experience & Qualifications:
  • You have experience leading operations, compliance, or program teams in a cross-functional environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
  • You are an effective people leader who can coach and develop teams, establish clear expectations, and build a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • You are skilled at translating complex legal, regulatory, operational, and data-related topics into clear actions, recommendations, and communications for different audiences, including senior leaders.
  • You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and can bring structure, prioritization, and forward momentum to evolving business problems.
  • You use data and metrics to monitor performance, inform trade-offs, and tell a clear story about outcomes, risk, and opportunities.
  • You can lead change effectively, bringing stakeholders along while improving processes, tools, and operating mechanisms over time.
  • You are comfortable working across business, operational, and technical contexts, and you can apply systems thinking to improve reliability and scalability in complex workflows.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience in tax data collection, VAT/GST, TIN, supplier compliance, or other regulated data collection processes.
  • Experience leading operational improvements that involve workflow systems, tooling changes, automation, or AI-assisted support models.
  • Experience in travel, marketplace, regulatory, finance, tax, or partner-facing operational environments.
Success in this role

Success in this role means establishing stronger ownership and leadership for tax data collection, improving the completeness and quality of tax data gathered from suppliers, reducing fragmented and manual execution, and creating a team and operating model that can scale with Expedia Group's evolving compliance needs.
