Job description

Managing the technical content, definition and configuration of the Platform including:

  • BOM Management for the Platform including Change Management
  • Technical data and VISBOM content
  • Platform diversity and component interchangeability
  • Achieving Quality, Cost, Timing, and Performance Objectives
  • Coordinates with purchasing for RFQ, supplier selection, and change management
  • Support regional requirements and content

Leading the technical activity of component and system development:

  • Design, development, and validation of component and systems
  • Leads decision / stakeholder meetings at the platform level
  • Design freeze and tooling kick off
  • Conformity of regulatory requirements
  • Coordination of technical teams

Coordinating activities with Manufacturing Engineering and the plant:

  • Alignment of design and manufacturing process to support cost, investment, and quality objectives
  • Compatibility of product and process
  • Packaging issues and requirements with logistics
  • Make buy convergence

Managing the technical relationship with Top Hats, other Platforms, and Advanced Engineering:

  • Confirm platform supports Top Hat requirements and future product requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related degree field
  • 8 years of Automotive Industry experience
  • Experience in vehicle / component design / release engineering, vehicle finance cost, program management, and / or component cost analysis
  • Experience with NVH, Durability, Safety
  • Excellent leadership communications / people skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Able to manage change and present ideas / concepts to all levels of management
  • Able to motivate and lead people that do not report directly to you
  • MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced technical or management degree
  • Excellent relationship building skills
  • Ability to present ideas and concepts successfully to all levels of management
  • Ability to productively manage change
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written)

Critical Skills:

  • Design and Development of components/systems associated with Chassis, Propulsion, or Body through a full project cycle.
  • Understanding of vehicle construction by systems (Body, Chassis, Powertrain, Interior, etc) and subsystems (Underbody, suspension, trim, cooling, HVAC, etc.).
  • Understand part break up of vehicles and how they are assembled.
  • Ability to identify and organize technical commodities into their functional purpose.
  • Identify and propose design alternatives to meet and exceed aggressive cost targets
