Job description

This role leads end-to-end project management for construction and infrastructure projects across a facility portfolio, functioning similarly to a Chief Engineer. The Project Manager oversees annual capital expenditure initiatives, including HVAC replacements, electrical upgrades, roof and building envelope improvements, and major equipment installations. The position manages the full project lifecycle from design through construction, commissioning, and closeout, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to defined quality standards. This is a full-time opportunity with the intention to convert the successful contractor to a permanent employee.
Responsibilities:
  • Execute the annual capital expenditure plan by delivering multiple concurrent infrastructure projects across the facility portfolio.
  • Manage the complete project lifecycle from design development through construction, commissioning, and final closeout.
  • Lead and coordinate construction projects involving HVAC replacements, electrical upgrades, roof replacements, building envelope improvements, and major equipment installations.
  • Oversee contractors and construction teams to ensure work complies with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Control project budgets and schedules, proactively identifying and resolving issues to keep projects on track.
  • Coordinate project activities to minimize disruption to ongoing facility operations and building occupants.
  • Review shop drawings, requests for information (RFIs), and change orders for technical accuracy, scope alignment, and cost impact.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable standards.
  • Manage project closeout activities, including punch lists, collection and verification of as-built documentation, warranty documentation, and final acceptance.
  • Track capital spending against approved budgets and prepare regular status updates and progress reports for stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and administrative records to support effective project governance and auditability.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure clear communication, alignment of expectations, and timely issue resolution throughout the project.

Skills:
  • Proven project management experience with construction projects, preferably within facilities or infrastructure environments.
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems and their integration within building projects.
  • Hands-on MEP project management experience, including coordination of HVAC, electrical, and related building systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects from design through construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Experience overseeing contractors and construction teams, ensuring adherence to specifications, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in controlling project budgets and schedules and addressing issues proactively to maintain project timelines.
  • Ability to review and interpret shop drawings, RFIs, and change orders for technical accuracy and cost implications.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with high attention to detail for documentation, tracking, and reporting.
  • Capability to conduct site inspections and manage quality control processes throughout construction.
  • Effective communication skills to provide clear status updates and coordinate activities with stakeholders and building occupants.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in facility engineering or a similar role with responsibility for capital expenditure projects.
  • Experience delivering projects such as HVAC replacements, electrical upgrades, roof replacements, and building envelope improvements.
  • Familiarity with managing major equipment installations within operational facilities.
  • Comfort working in a role comparable to a Chief Engineer, with ownership of technical and operational outcomes.
  • Ability to manage warranty documentation, as-built records, and final acceptance procedures.
  • Experience tracking capital spending against approved budgets and preparing concise project reports.
  • Construction management and MEP engineering exposure, including coordination between disciplines.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to balance technical, administrative, and field responsibilities.
