Department Overview
The New Revenue Development (NRD) organization is an entrepreneurial team within PG&E's Grid Research, innovation and Development (GRiD) organization whose purpose is to advance innovative use of PG&E assets. This capability combines non-tariffed resources and expertise with Utility assets to maximize value for the communities we serve. Through the non-tariffed products & services NRD develops and manages, the team has the unique opportunity to support customer satisfaction, lower operating expenses and generate positive return on investment for PG&E's customers and shareholders.
Position Summary
PG&E's NRD team is seeking a Contract Specialist, Expert, to support its customer and vendor contract generation and management for its existing non-tariffed businesses and several emerging opportunities. Based in Oakland, the Contract Specialist, Expert, will be a subject matter expert on contract development and management, using comprehensive knowledge of NRD's businesses. The Contract Specialist, Expert, will lead processes related to complex technical contract, and provide strategy recommendation on contractual matters.
The Contract Specialist, Expert, will work as part of a collaborative Program Management team with a service approach to internal clients and external customers. A curious, respectful, and proactive continuous improvement mindset is a must.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office, field locations and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory and will be agreed upon by the successful candidate and hiring leader. The assigned work location is flexible; however travel to/from Oakland General Office and San Ramon Valley Conference Center is required. Occasional travel to/from team meetings in Sacramento area are also be expected.
PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum to the midpoint of the range. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E's discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000.00
Bay Area Midpoint: $148,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000.00
Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all contracting activity (with both vendors and external customers) associated with NRD business transactions for assigned product(s) and/or service(s).
  • Provide clear and concise contractual interpretation tailored to meet the needs of various audiences.
  • Regular use of Sitetracker (Salesforce based) system to manage contract agreements, as well as PG&E's Ariba system for purchasing and vendor agreements.
  • Work collaboratively with NRD business owners, and internal stakeholders (e.g., Insurance, Contractor Safety, Privacy, Sourcing, Regulatory Affairs, and Law including external counsel) for timely drafting and negotiation of contracts.
  • Ensure timely contract approvals according to relevant delegation of authority and governance.
  • Provide strategic and technical recommendations to NRD business owners. and NRD leadership.
  • Lead large and complex cross-functional projects, as applicable.
  • Responsible for cross-functional work (e.g., with Corporate Development, Revenue Accounting, and Tax), as required.
  • Respond to data requests from regulators and/or audits.

Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering or related degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Six years of related work experience

Desired:
  • Experience in contract and/or project management or other legal or regulatory field.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in contract drafting and negotiations.
  • Knowledge and ability to work within PG&E's enterprise regulatory environment and specifically CPUC and FERC regulations related to compliant offering of Non-Tariffed Product and Services.
  • Ability to manage conflict constructively with a win-win resolution in mind.
  • Comfortable and effective verbal, written, and multi-channel communications to meet the needs of various audiences, including Functional Area leadership.
  • Competency using Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and various PG&E reporting systems to deliver timely, accurate executive-level presentations.
  • Detail oriented, to ensure high quality, timely, accurate business and operational functions while appropriately managing risks and ensuring regulatory and legal compliance.
  • Ability to effectively build formal and informal relationship networks inside and outside the organization.
  • Ability to anticipate and balance needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to operate effectively, even when things are not certain, or the way forward is not clear.
  • Strong basic knowledge on Lean principles and experience using tools (i.e. 4 Lean Plays, use of Tactical Implementation Plan, and Simple Problem Solving).
