Job description

IT Support Specialist

Location: Duncan, South Carolina
Position: Full-Time, On-Site
Experience: 1–3 Years

Position Summary

R&E Automated Systems is seeking an IT Support Specialist to provide day-to-day, on-site IT support for our Duncan, South Carolina facility.

This position will be the primary on-site IT resource for the facility and will report to the IT Manager located at our headquarters in Shelby Township, Michigan. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is comfortable working independently, communicating with remote IT team members, and escalating issues when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily help desk support for plant and office employees.
  • Troubleshoot Windows desktops, laptops, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Set up and deploy computers, monitors, docking stations, phones, tablets, and other IT equipment.
  • Troubleshoot basic wired network and Wi-Fi connectivity issues.
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot printers, scanners, and multifunction devices.
  • Support Zebra label printers, including printing issues, templates, connectivity, and licensing.
  • Assist with employee onboarding, workstation setup, and equipment changes.
  • Perform basic physical IT work, including tracing and patching network cables, connecting switch ports, replacing equipment, organizing network cabinets, and installing or replacing access points and other devices.
  • Maintain local IT equipment, spare hardware, and inventory.
  • Work with the IT Manager and other IT team members remotely to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Document problems and solutions and escalate advanced issues when appropriate.
  • Assist with other IT projects and technology deployments as needed.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of IT help desk, desktop support, or similar experience.
  • Working knowledge of Windows PCs, laptops, and common business applications.
  • Basic understanding of Ethernet, TCP/IP, Wi-Fi, and network troubleshooting.
  • Experience troubleshooting printers and computer hardware.
  • Comfortable supporting phones, tablets, and other mobile devices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take direction from remote management.
  • Ability to safely perform basic physical IT work, including moving equipment and occasionally working from a ladder.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Active Directory.
  • Experience with Zebra label printers.
  • Basic experience with network switches, wireless access points, or structured cabling.

We are looking for someone with a solid IT foundation, good troubleshooting instincts, and a willingness to learn. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad hands-on IT experience while supporting both office and manufacturing operations.
