Labcorp is seeking a Senior Director, IT PMO to join our team in the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC office.

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a fulltime, exempt (salaried) position assigned to a First Shift schedule, with standard business hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Business needs may occasionally require flexibility in work hours, including earlier, later, or additional hours, with reasonable notice provided when possible.

Applicants who live within 35 miles of either the Burlington, NC or Durham, NC location will follow a hybrid schedule. This schedule includes a minimum of three in-office days per week at an assigned location, either Burlington or Durham, supporting both collaboration and flexibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with cross-functional senior stakeholders to define, prioritize, and deliver a diverse portfolio of IT initiatives spanning application development, integrations, client interfaces, laboratory solutions, and infrastructure/security, ensuring alignment to enterprise strategy and business outcomes.
  • Development and oversee integrated project plans, dependencies, and financials across the full lifecycle, ensuring effective governance, resource alignment, and delivery of intended business value.
  • Proactively identify risks and interdependencies, implement mitigation strategies, and facilitate resolution of complex challenges to ensure successful delivery aligned to scope, timeline, budget, and expected outcomes.
  • Identify and remove organizational roadblocks and drive informed decision-making (both strategic and operational) to accelerate delivery and maintain momentum across programs.
  • Ensure end-to-end delivery excellence, including launch readiness, coordinated deployment planning, and post-implementation monitoring to support adoption, performance, and value realization.
  • Oversee and optimize the IT project portfolio, continuously aligning investments and priorities to evolving business strategy, customer needs, and enterprise goals.
  • Communicate program vision, progress, risks, and outcomes effectively to stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership, to drive alignment and informed decision-making.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project management talent, fostering a high-performing team capable of navigating complex technical and business challenges.
  • Assess and evolve PMO capabilities, organizational structure, and skillsets to align with strategic objectives, emerging delivery models (e.g., Agile/hybrid), and business transformation needs.
  • Continuously improve PMO methodologies, tools, and governance processes, enhancing capabilities across resource management, demand management, reporting, and portfolio prioritization to drive efficiency and business impact.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical work experience.
  • Minimum 5 or more years of experience managing a medium (5 - 20 FTEs) to large team (20+ FTEs).
  • 10 or more years in a direct IT project management role including all aspects of project development and delivery implementation.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

  • PMP certification.
  • 2 or more years of Clinical laboratory experience including laboratory information management system (LIMS) experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience with project management software (Microsoft Project, Clarity, etc.) to provide visibility to all levels of management and stakeholders.

Corporate IT is actively searching for an experienced Senior Director, IT Project Management, Diagnostics Labs and M&A, who will leverage their technology and project delivery skills to ensure IT programs and projects meet organizational goals. As a strategic leader, you will direct project management staff and partner with other department leaders to define, prioritize, develop, and implement projects and programs. You will be accountable for directly managing one or two programs and ensuring that all IT projects are delivered with high quality, on time, on budget with agreed upon functionality. You will drive our technology project delivery function ensuring that we meet both internal and external customer needs today and tomorrow. This position reports directly to the Vice President of IT Project Management at Labcorp.
