Tech Development Program information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in a Tech Development Program, and why are they important?

To thrive in a Tech Development Program, you generally need a solid background in computer science or engineering, strong problem-solving abilities, and relevant academic credentials such as a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with programming languages (like Java, Python, or C++), version control systems (such as Git), and exposure to software development methodologies are typically required. Adaptability, effective communication, and a willingness to learn help participants stand out in collaborative and fast-paced environments. These skills and qualities are crucial for quickly mastering new technologies, contributing to team projects, and advancing through rotational assignments in the program.

What types of projects and rotations can participants expect in a Tech Development Program?

Participants in a Tech Development Program typically rotate through multiple teams or departments, such as software development, data analytics, IT operations, and cybersecurity. These rotations are designed to provide broad exposure to various technical disciplines and business areas within the company. During each rotation, participants may work on real-world projects like developing new applications, supporting infrastructure upgrades, or analyzing data to drive business decisions. This structure helps build versatile skills and offers insight into which technical path aligns best with the participant's strengths and interests.

What is a Tech Development Program?

A Tech Development Program is a structured entry-level initiative offered by many companies to help recent graduates or early-career professionals gain hands-on experience in technology roles. These programs typically rotate participants through various departments, such as software engineering, data analysis, or IT, allowing them to develop a broad skill set and discover their interests. Participants receive mentorship, training, and networking opportunities designed to accelerate their growth and prepare them for long-term careers in technology. Upon completion, many are offered full-time positions within the company based on their performance and interests.

What is the difference between Tech Development Program vs Software Engineer?

While both require similar educational backgrounds, the program emphasizes training and exposure, whereas the Software Engineer role emphasizes hands-on project work.

This role has primary responsibility for coordinating Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities and managing maintenance scheduling to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
The MMDP will work cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and EHS to ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements, effective preventive maintenance execution, and continuous improvement in plant reliability and safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)
  • Support implementation and sustainment of all plant EHS programs in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, and local regulations).
  • Assist with safety training, onboarding, and refresher programs for employees and contractors.
  • Participate in incident investigations, near-miss reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
  • Coordinate and track safety audits, inspections, and regulatory documentation.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by reinforcing safe behaviors, hazard recognition, and employee engagement in EHS initiatives.
  • Support environmental compliance activities including waste management, spill prevention, and required reporting.

Maintenance Scheduling & Coordination

  • Coordinate maintenance schedules with Operations to minimize downtime and support production goals.
  • Maintain and update maintenance schedules within the CMMS, ensuring accuracy, prioritization, and completion tracking.
  • Monitor PM compliance and work order backlog; escalate risks related to equipment reliability or safety.
  • Support maintenance planning activities, including parts availability, labor coordination, and outage planning.
  • Assist with tracking maintenance KPIs such as PM compliance, downtime, and work order completion.

Operations & Leadership Development
  • Gain working knowledge of plant equipment, processes, and production workflows.
  • Lead or support continuous improvement projects related to safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Participate in shift meetings, safety talks, and cross-functional planning discussions.
  • Develop leadership, communication, and decision-making skills through hands-on plant involvement and mentorship.

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Safety, Operations Management, or a related field (or 5 years equivalent experience for internal candidates).
  • Strong interest in manufacturing leadership, safety, and maintenance reliability.
  • Working knowledge of EHS principles and maintenance concepts, or demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word); experience with CMMS systems preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Preferred
  • Internship or co-op experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or EHS.
  • Familiarity with OSHA regulations, safety management systems, or preventive maintenance programs.
  • Experience coordinating schedules or projects across multiple departments.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and industrial equipment.
  • Ability to walk the plant floor, climb stairs and ladders, and wear required PPE.
  • Occasional off-shift or weekend support as needed for maintenance activities or incident response.

Competitive Salary, with a general salary range of $96,336.00 to $120,420.00, or higher depending on education and experience.
