Job description

General Studies Teacher

New England Jewish Academy, a private school located in West Hartford, CT, is seeking a dynamic, motivated, growth-oriented Lower School/Middle School teacher for the upcoming school year. The position can be part-time or full-time.

Responsibilities include:

  • Implementing "best practice" strategies in the classroom while recognizing individual learning styles and needs;

  • Teaching and mentoring students as a class, in small groups, and one-on-one

  • Assessing students’ skills to determine their needs and to develop a teaching plan

  • Planning, organizing, and assigning learning activities that are specific to each student’s abilities

  • Regularly communicating students’ progress with parents, the principal, and the school social worker.

  • Developing and maintaining effective relationships with teachers and parents.

  • Preparing students to transition from grade to grade.

  • Active participation in professional development opportunities and a willingness to grow as a teacher and a learner.
