Job Title: Substitute Teacher / Teacher Aide

Pay: $160/day (Lead Teacher); $132/day (TA)

Term of Employment: Per Diem (2024-2025 school year)

Location: Charter Schools of Rochester (various locations)

What You’ll Do:

  • Follow established routines and procedures to ensure smooth classroom operations during the regular teacher’s absence.
  • Maintain order and discipline in the classroom, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Receive prepared lesson plans and facilitate classroom activities, group work, and discussions.
  • Adapt instructional programs to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, lunchrooms, and playgrounds to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Build effective working relationships with staff, students, and the community.
  • Communicate classroom activities, completed work, homework assignments, and any issues to the absent teacher.
  • Attend meetings and serve on staff committees as appropriate.
  • Comply with NY State Education Department's regulations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by school building administrators.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 1 year of related childcare/teaching experience.
  • Certified Teachers Preferred but not required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must obtain and pass background check with NYSED.
