Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Hospitality Task Force Engineer with a strong leadership presence and the ability to stabilize operations quickly. One who is responsible for deploying to hotels and restaurant concepts to oversee, assess, and restore the maintenance and repair of each propertyโ€™s physical infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems. They ensure the proper functioning of all building equipment, reduce maintenance backlogs, mentor on-site engineering teams, and coordinate with hotel leadership and vendors to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient operations while following company and brand standards.

Core Job Responsibilities & Duties

  • Deploy to hotels and restaurant concepts to provide temporary engineering leadership coverage
  • Assess mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and life-safety systems across assigned properties
  • Apply strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues quickly and correctly
  • Stabilize daily engineering operations and reduce guestroom Out-of-Order (OOO) inventory
  • Address deferred maintenance and preventive maintenance backlogs with urgency and accountability
  • Ensure boilers, chillers, cooling towers, hot water systems, and full-service mechanical plants operate efficiently
  • Support commercial kitchen mechanical systems to ensure operational readiness
  • Coordinate elevator vendor repairs, service contracts, and vendor performance expectations
  • Negotiate and manage vendors to ensure quality, pricing, and timelines align with operational needs
  • Prepare properties for brand QA inspections and property improvement plans
  • Ensure fire alarm, sprinkler, emergency lighting, and life-safety systems remain compliant
  • Maintain OSHA compliance and a safe working environment for staff and vendors
  • Review permits, certifications, and vendor documentation to reduce risk and ensure compliance
  • Maintain strong documentation and reporting for work orders, inspections, projects, and compliance logs
  • Review engineering budgets, labor controls, and maintenance-related expenses
  • Apply financial acumen and cost-control awareness to identify savings and reduce unnecessary spend
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities related to utilities, service contracts, and operational efficiencies
  • Assist in CapEx planning, vendor bidding, and validating scope of work for capital projects
  • Work independently and across multiple properties, prioritizing tasks based on risk and operational impact
  • Perform hands-on maintenance work including standing, lifting, climbing, and physically demanding tasks
  • Demonstrate leadership presence and hands-on mentality in high-need, high-visibility situations
  • Train, mentor, and develop property-level maintenance teams, including junior engineers
  • Implement structured PM programs (Quore, HotSOS, or equivalent) and establish sustainable systems before assignment completion
  • Establish parts inventory control procedures, work order accountability, and response time standards
  • Travel between properties as needed and provide after-hours/emergency response support when required

Qualification Standards & Company Requirements

  • Abilityย to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • 10+ years hotel engineering experience
  • Experience in both full-service and select-service hotel environments
  • Strong HVAC and electrical background
  • Experience operating full-service mechanical plants
  • Experience with boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and commercial kitchen systems preferred
  • Vendor negotiation and contract management experience
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills
  • Comfortable training and mentoring junior engineers
  • OSHA knowledge required
  • EPA/HVAC certification preferred
  • CPO certification preferred
  • Elevator and life-safety system coordination experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel frequently and work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
