Job description

SUMMARY 

The Lift Maintenance Manager leads the lift maintenance team and is responsible for the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of Tamarack Resort’s aerial lifts, surface lifts, conveyors, related electrical systems, mechanical systems, and mountain infrastructure. This position oversees preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, troubleshooting, parts management, documentation, regulatory compliance, and lift readiness for daily operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead, train, schedule, and supervise lift maintenance personnel.
  • Manage lift preventive maintenance programs, inspections, work orders, and service records.
  • Oversee maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of detachable lifts, fixed-grip lifts, conveyors, terminals, line equipment, grips, carriers, sheaves, braking systems, drives, hydraulics, tension systems, controls, and communication systems.
  • Ensure compliance with ANSI B77.1, manufacturer requirements, OSHA standards, state inspections, and Tamarack Resort safety procedures.
  • Coordinate annual inspections, acceptance testing, load testing, non-destructive testing, and required corrective actions.
  • Manage lift parts inventory, tools, budgets, purchasing, and vendor support.
  • Respond to lift-related operational issues, breakdowns, evacuations, and mountain emergencies.
  • Promote a safety-first culture focused on reliability, documentation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • 5+ years of ski lift maintenance experience, including leadership or supervisory
  • responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of aerial lift mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, braking, tensioning,
  • carrier, grip, and control systems.
  • Experience maintaining detachable lifts, fixed-grip lifts, conveyors, and related
  • mountain operations equipment.
  • Working knowledge of ANSI B77.1, manufacturer bulletins, inspection requirements,
  • and lift maintenance documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret lift drawings, wiring diagrams, service manuals, and
  • technical documentation.
  • Experience with budgeting, parts planning, maintenance software, and regulatory
  • recordkeeping.
  • Valid driver’s license. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Requires possession of valid Driver License with a driving record meeting the minimum standards required by the resort insurance carrier.  Must have own reliable mode of transportation.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position regularly works outdoors in a mountain environment and is exposed to a wide range of weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, ice, wind, rain, and direct sunlight. Lift Maintenance employees must be able to safely perform physically demanding tasks at varying elevations and in challenging terrain while maintaining focus and adherence to safety standards in all weather conditions.
