SUMMARY
Provides leadership and oversight to the Ski/Ride School team, ensuring instructors deliver a superior educational experience on the snow. The Supervisor will lead by example, mentor instructors of varying experience levels, and help maintain the high standards of safety, guest service, and instruction quality that Tamarack guests expect.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Oversee daily operations of the ski/ride school, including instructor scheduling, lesson assignments, and class management.
• Mentor and train instructors, providing feedback to develop their skiing/snowboarding and teaching skills.
• Ensure a safe and enjoyable skiing/snowboarding experience for guests and staff.
• Encourage guests to take advantage of ski/ride school and resort products that enhance their recreational experience.
• Step in to teach ski or snowboard lessons to adults and children, individually or in groups, as needed.
• Exhibit a positive model to instructors and guests in areas of customer service, punctuality, grooming, and work quality.
• Handle guest concerns and escalations with professionalism and sound judgment.
• Assist in developing lesson plans, curriculum standards, and training programs for the instructor team.
• Monitor instructor certifications and support continuing education toward PSIA/ISIA advancement.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Minimum 5+ years of related ski/ride instruction experience.
PSIA Level I certification required, minimum. Higher-level certification preferred.
• Must enjoy working and interacting with the public, and demonstrate strong leadership skills.
• Ski/Snowboard at least at an advanced level.
• Own ski/snowboard equipment.
• Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Five or more years of related experience and/or training in the ski business required. PSIA or ISIA Level I certification required at minimum; higher certification levels strongly preferred. Prior supervisory or lead instructor experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
PSIA or ISIA Level I certification required or equivalent preferred.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of guests, instructors, or employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized and non-standardized situations, and to exercise independent judgment.
