Job description

Talon Hiring Solutions has a client in the Birmingham, AL area that is looking for Controls Engineer to join the automation team and help design, program, and implement advanced control systems for manufacturing and process operations. This is a hands-on engineering position ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation who's ready to grow toward leadership.

What You'll Do:

Design control panels, wiring diagrams, and schematics using AutoCAD Electrical

Program PLC and HMI systems (Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, etc.)

Support system testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality automation solutions

Create documentation including BOMs, I/O lists, and control narratives


What You'll Bring:

BS in electrical engineering, Mechatronics, or related field

25 years of hands-on controls engineering experience

Proficiency in PLC/HMI programming and AutoCAD Electrical

Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and teamwork skills

Willingness to travel for commissioning and support
