What You Will Do:

We are seeking a dynamic Systems Engineering Manager to lead a talented team of engineers supporting gateway servers and wireless connectivity across Astronautics' connected product lines. In this role, you will provide both strategic direction and hands-on leadership, guiding a team responsible for new product development, as well as the maintenance and enhancement of legacy systems. You will play a key role in driving engineering excellence-mentoring team members, fostering innovation, and ensuring adherence to rigorous process and compliance standards for both safety-critical and non-safety-critical products.

This position is located at our Headquarters in Oak Creek, WI. You will report directly to the Chief Engineer, Connected Aircraft Solutions.

How You Will Do It:

  • Provide clear direction, leadership, and oversight to systems engineers and technical leads.
  • Manage, track, and communicate system-level tasks, schedules, and budgets.
  • Lead and facilitate technical discussions related to system architecture and design.
  • Drive accountability and ownership across team deliverables and performance.
  • Develop and grow the systems engineering team through:
    • Individual coaching and mentorship.
    • Skills assessment and targeted development.
    • Goal setting and performance management.
  • Collaborate with engineering and program teams to ensure successful execution.
  • Partner with the Chief Engineer to enhance processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Support planning activities including budgeting, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Stay engaged with industry trends and contribute to external technical engagement.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed.

What We Look For:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Systems, etc..) Computer Science, or another related technical field from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years in a safety-critical, regulated industry (avionics strongly preferred).
  • Strong experience in core systems engineering disciplines, including:
    • Requirements capture and management (customer, regulatory, and internal).
    • Compliance management and change control.
    • System architecture design and decomposition.
    • Cross-functional integration with hardware, software, and test teams.
    • System verification, validation, and test execution.
    • Supporting product integration with customer platforms.
  • Familiarity with ARP4754A, DO-178C, DO-254 (or equivalent standards).
  • Experience with tools such as DOORS, ClearCase, or similar.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft systems and avionics integration.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear direction.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to build and maintain a cohesive, high-performing team.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of ARINC and RTCA standards.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO).
  • Familiarity with PLM and safety analysis tools.
  • Experience with Model-Based Development (MBD) methodologies.
  • Proficiency with MS Project or similar planning tools.
