Job Overview

Principal Systems Engineer – Section Responsible Systems Engineer – Tucson, AZ, Onsite.

The Systems Engineering and Test Center (SETC) organization is hiring for the Advanced Technology Effectors System Engineering Department. The role involves leading the update and maintenance of system and subsystem level requirements specifications, serving as the technical lead for verification and validation, and ensuring all requirements are assessed during Verification and Qualification testing. The position also includes engaging with Systems and Hardware teams, Chief Engineer, and Integrated Product Team leadership, mentoring team members, and serving as the go‑to Systems Engineer for the program.

Responsibilities
  • Lead effort to update and maintain system and subsystem level requirements specifications.
  • Serve as the systems technical lead for verification and validation efforts during Verification and Qualification testing.
  • Collaborate with Systems and Hardware IPTLs, Chief Engineer, and other stakeholders on program technical tasks.
  • Lead Systems Verification Reviews with the Chief Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, and Integrated Product Team Leadership.
  • Be the knowledgeable and go‑to Systems Engineer for the program.
  • Onboard, mentor, and guide new team members using core Systems Engineering skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with at least one of the following: systems software, systems firmware, systems hardware, systems requirements, systems integration, or systems test.
  • Experience in test planning, verification of system requirements, and/or system qualification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.
  • Top Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Experience in the defense industry, especially with military systems, tactics, techniques, and procedures, and Department of Defense customer infrastructure.
  • Experience with Agile framework development methods.
  • Strong customer focus and collaboration skills.
  • Experience with performance analysis.
  • Experience with DOORS, Cameo, and/or cPDM.
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) or Cost Account Management (CAM).
  • Relevant certifications.
Security Clearance

Active government‑issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Salary

Estimated salary range: $107,500 – $204,500 USD.
