SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a work-study student position responsible for assisting in the operations and activities of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) team within the Human Resources department. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided. Familiarity with Banner or other HRIS is preferred. Interest in HR data management is preferred.
A student must be awarded and accept a "Work-Study Permit" for each semester the student will be working.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists HRIS team with routine data entry, data cleaning and general data management tasks within the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Supports the maintenance and updating of HRIS records. Reviews and updates data entries to identify and correct discrepancies or errors.
- Assists with answering phone calls and routing incoming calls, and provides general information to customers regarding HRIS processes and procedures.
- Ensures confidentiality and follows data privacy policies when handling sensitive HR information.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Skill in completing assignments with attention to detail.
- Skill in computer applications including spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
- Ability to accurately enter, update, and maintain HR data within the HRIS.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Ability to organize work.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT
This position is 15-20 hours/week scheduled between 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday-Friday in the office (Austin Building 201)

A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
