SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a work-study student position responsible for assisting in the operations and activities of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) team within the Human Resources department. Works under close supervision, with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided. Familiarity with Banner or other HRIS is preferred. Interest in HR data management is preferred.
A student must be awarded and accept a "Work-Study Permit" for each semester the student will be working.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Assists HRIS team with routine data entry, data cleaning and general data management tasks within the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  2. Supports the maintenance and updating of HRIS records. Reviews and updates data entries to identify and correct discrepancies or errors.
  3. Assists with answering phone calls and routing incoming calls, and provides general information to customers regarding HRIS processes and procedures.
  4. Ensures confidentiality and follows data privacy policies when handling sensitive HR information.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, university and departmental policies and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of basic data entry concepts.
  3. Skill in completing assignments with attention to detail.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT
This position is 15-20 hours/week scheduled between 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday-Friday in the office (Austin Building 201)

A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
