Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and support of the departmental computer systems and applications. Ensure system reliability, data integrity, and security while providing technical assistance to department personnel. This position has multiple priorities and supports departmental operations in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Typical duties may include but not limited to:

  • Enter payroll data; all overtime, minor judiciary, court cards and weekly duty rosters; Maintain spreadsheet of police leave accrual. Troubleshoot all police payroll issues and work closely with payroll department.
  • Compile the monthly NIBRS/Uniform Crime Reports (UCR); Periodically review offense reports to ensure NIBRS/UCR reporting procedure is being followed.
  • Maintain numerous Excel spreadsheets on crime statistics and handle all requests for crime statistic information.
  • Create many ADHOC reports that are needed by department personnel as well as outside agencies and civilians to pull informational/statistical data from Motorola FLEX system.
  • Create weekly/monthly crime maps as well as any special requests. Train users on crime mapping/CompStat.
  • Attend weekly crime meetings and run computer displaying maps and other reports.
  • Set up access levels for Motorola FLEX and other software systems for department personnel.
  • Train all police department employees in using the software systems and Records Office reporting requirements. Assist all users with day-to-day problems and questions regarding system administration.
  • Perform maintenance to the master files in the Motorola FLEX system to ensure their accuracy, integrity, and security.
  • Process court ordered Expungements of arrest records.
  • Assist IT with updates for software system and do all testing to ensure everything is working properly after update is installed. First point of contact for police with software issues; troubleshooting issues and responsible for submitting tickets to IT department if unresolved.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational Requirements/Experience

  • High school diploma or GED are required.
  • Successfully pass a thorough background investigation, drug screening and maintain a clear criminal background.
  • No FELONY or MISDEMEANOR.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Advanced typing skills
  • Must have advanced knowledge of computer processing, windows, and the Motorola FLEX programs and modules; Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word & Access
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to appropriately interact with various people within and outside of City Hall.
