Position Summary:
The Switchboard Operator is a front-line position requiring exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette skills to ensure that consistent, quality service is being delivered every time. This position functions in accordance with established policies, procedures and hospital standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Accurately utilize the features of the switchboard consoles, headsets, telephones and other related equipment
  • Answer all calls and respond to requests in a timely, professional and accurate manner
  • Utilize computer technology to initiate both numeric and alpha pages for routine and emergency situations and record all emergency codes in accordance with established policies
  • Monitor alarms located in the switchboard and notify appropriate personnel as required
  • Respond quickly and accurately to STAT and other emergency situations
  • Maintain confidentiality, security and integrity of patient and organizational data
  • Ensure release of information is consistent with privacy policies
  • Performs other duties as assigned by department management

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated telephonic customer service experience, preferably in healthcare, is required
  • Previous switchboard experience is preferred
  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Accurate data entry and basic typing skills

Per Diem: Based on availability; will be scheduled into shifts in advance
