Job description

Job Title: Swiss Screw Machinist

Job Description

This role focuses on operating Citizen K16 Swiss-style CNC machines to produce small, high-precision components for critical applications. You will work on a 1st Shift or 2nd-shift schedule in a precision manufacturing environment, ensuring that all parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards while following established procedures, work orders, and blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Citizen K16 Swiss-style CNC machines to manufacture high-precision components.
  • Load raw materials into machines and monitor operations to ensure parts meet tight tolerances and specifications.
  • Inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators, and accurately document inspection results.
  • Follow setup instructions, work orders, and blueprints to ensure accurate and repeatable production.
  • Perform basic machine adjustments and offsets as needed to maintain part quality and dimensional accuracy.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and adhere to safety guidelines and 5S standards.
  • Communicate effectively with setup personnel, programmers, and quality inspectors to identify and resolve production issues.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and promptly report any mechanical or operational issues.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and support Lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Carry out other machining and production-related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 3+ years of CNC machining experience, including at least 1+ years operating Swiss-style CNC machines.
  • Hands-on experience operating Citizen K16 Swiss-style CNC machines strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
  • Familiarity with CNC controls and machine interface operations.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators.
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts or overtime as needed.
  • Experience with lathes and Swiss screw machining in a CNC environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training or machining-related certification is preferred.
  • Experience with milling operations in addition to lathe and Swiss screw machining is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment with tight tolerances.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $40.00/hr.
