Job Summary:
As a Yard Jockey at SWCORP, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient movement and organization of trailers and containers within our facility. You will be responsible for safely transporting trailers to and from designated areas, as well as assisting in the loading and unloading of goods as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safely operate yard trucks and other equipment to move trailers and containers within the facility.
  2. Transport trailers to and from loading docks, storage areas, and designated parking spots according to schedule and instructions.
  3. Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of yard trucks and trailers to ensure safe operation and compliance with company standards.
  4. Assist in the loading and unloading of trailers and containers as directed by warehouse personnel.
  5. Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, including trailer numbers, locations, and arrival/departure times.
  6. Communicate effectively with warehouse personnel, truck drivers, and other team members to coordinate yard activities and ensure efficient operations.
  7. Adhere to safety procedures and protocols at all times to prevent accidents and injuries in the yard area.
  8. Keep the yard clean, organized, and free of debris to facilitate safe and efficient movement of equipment and goods.

Requirements:

  1. Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
  2. Proven experience operating yard trucks or similar equipment in a warehouse or distribution environment.
  3. Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures related to yard operations.
  4. Ability to operate yard trucks and equipment safely and efficiently in various weather conditions and environments.
  5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and individuals.
  6. Attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks such as recording trailer movements and conducting inspections.
  7. Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
  8. Physical stamina and strength to perform duties such as lifting, bending, and climbing in a fast-paced environment.
