The Sustainability Coordinator supports the execution of the company's sustainability initiatives and reporting. This role will assist in the collection of impact data, analysis and interpretation of results, and reporting. This position will work cross-functionally to provide project support and expertise on new initiatives and work to continuously improve existing processes. The Sustainability Coordinator will support sustainability program growth through policy development and documentation. Oversight of individual sustainability driven project development, and technical research /analysis, scheduling, project budgeting, project performance metrics and results. Serves as a subject matter expert around environmental and sustainability issues broadly and in healthcare. Responsible for the development of energy and sustainability executive reports, environmental excellence award applications and other external reporting and recognition programs on the local, state and federal level. Support the analysis, tracking and reporting of the company's sustainability initiatives and goals. Enable the use of digital technologies for capturing and communicating company performance data.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and analyze data measuring social and environmental performance.
  • Interpret performance data to identify high impact opportunities.
  • Translate data into recommendations for the business.
  • Question how things are done, make the business case for process improvements, and see changes through to implementation.
  • Assist in researching and monitoring sustainability topics and best practices.
  • Support development of sustainability related policies and SOPs.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Work with multiple stakeholders to respond to ESG disclosures, analyze results, make recommendations for improvement and track progress.
  • Manage and respond to customer ESG surveys. Identify opportunities for improvement, work with stakeholders to simplify the process and deliver world-class customer service.
  • Analyze data trends and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to scope, guide and implement initiatives and projects in support of our sustainability goals. Examples include sustainable packaging and responsible sourcing.
  • Communicate the impact of sustainability projects internally and externally.
  • Act as an advisor and technical expert on sustainability related issues.
  • In collaboration with the Sustainability Manager build external relationships to advance sustainability strategies and foster continuous improvement through collaboration.
  • Develop and implement educational programming related to cultivating sustainability literacy throughout YNHHS. Programming to include but not limited to, seminars, conferences, workshops, fairs, and other activities geared towards achieving buy-in and habit transformation from student, faculty, and staff.
  • Support sustainability programs initiated by students, faculty, staff, and community members. Develop and maintain a public repository of sustainability activities to facilitate networking and resource sharing among stakeholders.
  • Track and report departmental Key Performance Indicators and maintain a public -facing dashboard of the Health System's progress toward carbon neutrality, Zero Waste, and departmental sustainability integration.
  • Coordinate public relations activities to include preparing and supervising the department website, social media outlets, brochures, newsletters and other promotional materials and /or publications, preparing press releases, and responding to inquiries; develop plans and schedules for release of publicity materials.
  • Track and report on the effectiveness of sustainability marketing efforts using web analytics and social media marketing tools.
  • Research and maintain a working knowledge of best practices at peer institutions with regards to sustainability.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor Degree in relevant fields (e.g. environmental science, engineering, sustainability) A Graduate Degree is highly desirable.

EXPERIENCE

  • 2-3 years' experience in a sustainability role. Prior program &/or project management and administration experience with a focus on environmental footprint, sustainable agriculture, responsible sourcing, sustainable packaging, corporate social responsibility initiatives and ESG disclosures.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and from conception to implementation through collaboration with a global, diverse team of partners and stakeholders.
