About Us:
SUKA SUSHI is a relatively new restaurant based on a novel and unique concept - sushi in a container that makes eating on the go convenient. We opened our first location in November and quickly gained world-wide renown & buzz. We are now opening our second location in Manhattan and are looking to expand our team with enthusiastic and skilled individuals. We are invested in building a team that can grow alongside us. Dependable and hardworking team members will be given the opportunity to develop their skills and grow within the organization.
Position Summary:
We are seeking motivated Sushi Chefs, Sushi Helpers, Kitchen Helpers, Dishwashers, & Cashiers to join our kitchen team. You will assist in daily ingredient prep, sushi roll production, packing sushi into our containers, cleaning the space organized and clean, and upholding the quality of sushi and cleanliness of our product/kitchen. Our business model is designed to be a grab-&-go without sacrificing quality. This means our team need to be prepared to create high volume amount of rolls daily in order to keep up with customer demand.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and season sushi rice to Suka Sushi standards
- Cut fish and prep other ingredients efficiently for daily service
- Roll, cut,and assemble sushi with consistency and precision
- Maintain sufficient prep levels for both lunch and dinner service
- Follow standardized recipes, portion sizes, and food safety protocols
- Track ingredients and supplies to prevent inventory shortages
- Ensure freshness, presentation, and quality across all menu items
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of prep areas and equipment
- Communicate effectively with the team, managers, and FOH throughout service
- Work with speed, accuracy, and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Requirements:
- Food Protection Certificate (preferred)
- Prior experience in sushi preparation strongly preferred (but willing to train motivated candidates)
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
- Punctual, reliable, and team-oriented attitude
- Legal work status
Pay:
Depends on position and experience
Chefs - starting at $25/hour & up
Sushi Helper - starting at $21/hour & up
Kitchen Helper - starting at $19/hour & up
Cashiers - starting at $18.00/hour & up
Dishwasher - starting at $17.00/hour & up
Full-time is preferred but part-time is also available
