Job Summary

Provides administrative support for designated acute care nursing units and service lines in accordance with established standards and practices. Supports daily operations of the clinical area, is responsible for data collection, inventory and repair records as it pertains to supplies and equipment. Serves as a resource to managers in tracking expenditures, reducing costs, and identifying budget discrepancies. Collaborates with hospital departments to ensure proper supply and expense management in the assigned department.

Essential Functions

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's purpose:Inspire health.Serve with compassion.Be the difference.

  • Serves as a resource person for nursing unit personnel by providing information related to indirect patient care services e.g., supplies, manuals, equipment, etc.

  • Facilitates nursing unit operations by functioning as a liaison to other hospital departments as appropriate.

  • Coordinates the maintenance of a safe, clean and functional physical environment for assigned units in accordance with regulatory standards.

  • Monitors equipment function and initiates request for repairs and/or coordinates equipment recalls. Identifies needs for new capital.

  • Manages ordering, purchasing, stocking and inventory of equipment and supplies as appropriate.

  • Ensures staff are aware of recalls, backorders, etc.

  • Research and compiles information on new equipment and supplies.

  • Interfaces with materials management to resolve problems and/or issues.

  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement and participates in on-going process improvement activities.

  • Participates in preparation and monitoring of budgets for assigned areas specific to equipment and supplies.

  • Prepares capital budget requests and orders capital as approved.

  • Assists in maintaining budget for fiscal control of supplies and inventory. Monitors supplies, identifies trends and initiates cost containment initiatives as appropriate.

  • Provides financial information related to expense budget reports.

  • Assist in development of and/or participates in programs and projects which support the philosophy, goals and objectives of Nursing Services for Prisma Health.

  • Provides administrative and clerical support as needed for unit operations including but not limited to data entry, filing, meeting minutes, preparing evaluation packets and/or new hire interview packets, etc.

  • May assist with timekeeping, staffing schedules and/or staffing coverage as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Associate degree in Business or related field of study

  • Experience - Two (2) years of related work experience. Experience in a healthcare business environment preferred.

  • In lieu of education and experience listed above, an equivalent combination (BS + 0 years of experience, or no education and four years of experience) of work/academic experience may be considered.
